Hopefully it won't come to that - one Terri Schiavo is more than enough. I'm not sure what form any changes would take, because, realistically, the laws on guardianship and end-of-life issues work pretty well and are pretty much the way most people want them. There are no easy solutions that I see, but I don't claim to see everything possible either.

I'm smelling a whole lot of what they have been shoveling.........

Really, only Michael Schiavo knows why he did what he did, and so far he's not been particularly forthcoming. As is his right, of course - he doesn't owe me an explanation. Nevertheless, there are other possibilities that even I can see.

Me too. Catherine Crier was so sure Terri wanted to be starved to death. I would love to ask her if she would stake the life of one of her children on that fact?
I mean, if you are 100% sure, there should be no problem making that claim.
Anyway, she made me sick and I will NEVER watch her again.

How about that! A new baby boy! Tickles and coos and kisses! Lucky, lucky you! God bless your new little one.

I didn't hear anyone say that the Popes feeding tube needed to be removed. God works in mysterious ways doesn't he?

Where in the world does it cost $300,000 for nursing school? I haven't seen that anywhere - it would be unusual, to say the least. Got a link?

Seriously, it would be harder to "Bush bash" if both brothers didn't clam up and shrink back when the media polls starting coming out.

Wow--It sounds like your son has a wonderfully decent set of principles; kudos to you. It was an incredibly disturbing video, visually and audibly (I still hear those screams) but if it strengthened your son and instilled in him a resolve to fight this evil, then the mistake of his watching the video seemed to have served a higher purpose.

Yes, He does. I am sure if you head over to DU or the Smokey Backroom, you will find some calling for the Pope to be starved to death.
Okay, that was sarcasm, but it would not shock me.

Everyone who "came forward" shared the same last name. Want to guess the name? And this recollection was suddenly recalled SEVEN YEARS after Terri's mysterious collapse, wherein she lay on the floor for 10 mins. with no attempted CPR or assistance from her "guardian," who called her dad, then her brother, who rushed over to find her guardian sitting on the sofa while Terri still lay face down on the floor.

Fixing pesky loopholes in the law is like plugging leaks in a dike. One pops up every time you turn around.
To: yellowdoghunter
I had that same thought when I watched Catherine make a fool of herself last night...that I'd never watch her again.
To: over3Owithabrain
I know it was frustrating to watch; and I don't deny being disappointed; but I don't want some Dem like Hillary to end up appointing the "Men in Black". We see that life and death issues hang on these appointments.

Boy you got that right. The best we can hope for is that it'll usually work out right. Usually it does - the Schiavo case is very much an edge case, IMO.

very true.
my little dirt-eater turned out pretty good :)
To: sfimom
Maybe he and MS will share that hot corner together. All the while, Terri is basking in the love and comfort of our Lord.
