Terri Schiavo refused medical treatment, via her legal guardian, Michael Schiavo. I realize this did not lead to the outcome that most of us would like to see, but the answer lies in changing the law, not swapping judges around.
Greer didn't let Terri had a lawyer, and she was facing a DEATH SENTENCE.
What does it say? I don't see anything that limits it to artificial food and hydration. The absense of any qualifier would seem to suggest 'all', especially since Greer refused a motion to allow natural feeding and hydration.
That does not supersede one's own right to refuse medical treatment. The Florida constitution does not mandate that life must be forced upon those who do not want it.
I wasn't referring to a carpetbagger. I was thinking someone from maybe Jacksonville who wasn't high profile or tied with the Greer/Rice(state rep) types.
I hope MS is prosecuted!
And those who helped him murder her.
He wrote another order....guess you haven't read them all....have you!
Yes it is, Dave. Unfortunately.
Michael does not need mercy. He needs to be brought to justice. May he, his lawyer and the judge not only rot in hell, May they be subject to the same torture they inflicted on this poor woman for the rest of their miserable lives.
One can only hope the these three pay for their actions...
Methinks that the mistress of Michael best BEWARE!!!!
In order for the order to "directly prohibit" feeding by mouth, it should say something to that effect, don't you think?
Explain the cop standing by the bed, with the intention of preventing any attempt to give her hydration by mouth. You argument rings hollow. The order said 'removal of..." it did not stipulate artificial.
Rest in Peace, Terri, and may God comfort those who mourn.
Rest in peace Terri. It's over for you now. We'll keep fighting though.
And Michael:
Your day before God will seem to come quickly in comparison to the worldly gains you have wrested from Terri AND the system.
Not a very well-written law, IMO. Save some of your blame for the tools who drafted that piece of junk.
Our courts and her husband took two weeks killing a disabled woman who could not defend herself, boy we have a lot to be proud of today. RIP
Hey, I didn't write the law. Write your legislator to change it, if you're in Florida, or you'll see it all over again, regardless of whether Greer is the judge or not.
You're welcome. I couldn't care less than I do that the media wants to paint conservatives as religious fanatics, or radicals, etc. I just cannot believe how low the media will stoop, and how far it will go to stretch information into a distortion of the truth. According to the media in recent days, they are basically saying that if you are a person who is appalled and sickened that the state of Florida has placed its stamp of approval on withholding food and water from a disabled woman until her resulting death, then you are a right-wing screwball.
Remember that seventies movie, Logan's Run?......it's not seeming all that farfetched as I sit here.
Wonder when the 'Sandman Laws' will be passed.
