Both of you are correct - India needs to stand up for itself and have the backbone to do what is important for it.
Recognize Taiwan, sign a defense treaty with it, ensure it gets massive investment in return, to heck with "Chinese sensibilities". If Chicoms can try to encircle India, well, two can play that game.
Regarding the US - both of you are again correct. The US respects power and strength, not Gandhian nonviolence (that nonsense is only for public consumption, not for formulating policy).
