Here's some more info from the web.

I continue to believe it's very, very wrong for a judge to be able to sentence a disabled person to death by starvation without a FULL review by higher courts (just as we afford every benefit of the doubt to a murderer). But there are smells around a lot of the info we've gotten that involves Hammesfahr.

One fellow freeper noted to me privately that Hammesfahr could with great confidence predict that Terri Schiavo could improve with rehabilitation, given the fact that she's been denied ANY rehabilitative care for the past dozen or so YEARS.

So... if he had the opportunity to do so, very easy for Hammesfahr to come in, gain her some improvement, and be seen as the doctor who helped Terri Schiavo.

How much would THAT be worth?

LEVESQUE (10/25/03): In a 2002 order by Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge George Greer ruling that Mrs. Schiavo could not recover, Greer labeled Hammesfahr a "self-promoter."
The judge noted that Hammesfahr testified that he had treated patients worse off than Mrs. Schiavo yet "offered no names, no case studies, no videos and no test results to support his claim."

NOHLGREN (11/10/03): The single most dramatic moment occurred when William Hammesfahr, a Clearwater neurologist picked by the Schindlers, asked Schiavo to open her eyes.
At first, her eyelids barely flutter. She slowly turns her head toward Hammesfahr, gradually opening her eyes. Then her eyebrows lift into an exaggerated arch—the kind of face a cartoonist might draw to show astonishment.

A lay person could easily conclude that she somehow tapped into a latent reservoir of cognition, even if just for a second. Hammesfahr and her parents bubble with excitement.

"Good job!" the doctor exults. "Good job, young lady!"

But she never pulls it off again, or anything remotely like it. For nearly an hour, her parents and the doctor tell her to open her eyes, close her eyes, look this way, look that way—with little apparent response.

Judge Greer counted.

"By the court's count, (Hammesfahr) gave 105 commands to Terri Schiavo and, at his direction, Mrs. Schindler gave an additional six commands," Greer wrote. "He asked her 61 questions and Mrs. Schindler asked her an additional 11 questions. The court saw few actions that could be considered responsive to either those commands or those questions."

From his own site, his "Nobel nomination" (a letter to the Nobel committee written by his Congressman, who does NOT have standing to submit an actual nomination:

There are dozens of neurologists who have opined that she is not in a PVS.

Michael S. and the court won't allow her to be examined further.

They won't allow the PET scan or other exams to be performed.

There's a ton of evidence that she is not in a PVS.

Best of all for me, her mother, father, brother and sister, who know her better than anyone, know she is "there".

The nurses who spent time with her know she is "there".

The euthanasiast doctors say she's not, based on half hour to 45-minute clinical sessions, no tests.

All I have advocated is getting her examined and tested, by non-death doctors, so we can get a definite diagnosis.

Yep. That's not the procedure. Fraud.

(It's an ad hominem but it casts serious doubt on anything he says.)

Get your info from the web -

Greer labeled Hammesfahr a "self-promoter."

That is so laughable. If he found Terri in a coma - what would he call him? Brilliant? Yep, we will all believe Greer.

Others doctors are ripping him apart. Wonder why?
It wouldn't matter what Terri could do - it would never be enough to keep her alive. Having NO treatment over the years - what did these other doctors say about that?

YOU have NO idea what you are talking about by we all know what you are doing. Most people are envious of brilliance....shows a lack of self esteem.

You are so hell bent on trying to destroy the findings of the doctor?

Why? Let's be honest!!

Did you do that to the doctor that examined Terri for 45 mintues and made his conclusions??? Hmmmm

Is it truth you are looking for? hmmm

I had no idea my overly bright 1 year old child is actually a PVS case. Huh ... he doesnt respond to most 'commands' either.

The lady who was in a coma and came out of it (can't remember her name) said to do something like Terri did with her eyes can take extreme consentration and leave you worn out so that you need to rest in order to do something else. She said someone not having been in this state cannot begin to understand.
