PINELLAS PARK, United States (AFP) - As a brain-damaged woman passed her 12th day without food or drink in a hospice here, Terri Schiavo's parents are planning to again petition the US Supreme Court to intervene, their lawyer said.

Bob and Mary Schindler have been rebuffed by a series of courts in recent weeks and days, their latest setback came Wednesday after the 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals rejected their appeal to reopen the case into whether their daughter's feeding tube should be reinserted.
But the woman's parents appear set to continue waging their legal battle.
"I can confirm for you that we are now preparing to file an appeal with the United States Supreme Court," the Schindler's lawyer, Steve Kluth, said in a statement issued by his office.
However, the Schindlers have already been rebuffed once by the US' highest court in Washington on March 24.
Terri Schaivo's feeding tube was removed March 18, triggering an intense legal battle and a right-to-life political storm that sparked the involvement of the US Congress and US President George W. Bush.
Bush signed legislation backing a federal court review of Terri's case -- she has been in a persistent vegitative state for 15 years -- but the federal courts have so far declined to intervene on her behalf.
That is what is so sad to me. Terri was also showing signs of improvement until her husband ordered it stopped. Just b/c you have brain damage doesn't mean you can't have a life. It's nice that your story has a happy ending where the person is getting the help she needs and has medical staff that seem to truly care about her. If only Terri had the same care...how tragic.

Terri is not starving because she was going to die. But she is dying because of just that lie.
Have you all seen this incredible tape of Terri opening her eyes for the dr. - he keeps saying "open you eyes{ - so she finally arches her eyebrows high and her eyes wide as if to say: "Hey, how about THIS!"
It will make you laugh and then cry - SHE IS THERE - she needs therapy...THIS IS A MUST - must get it our everyone. I've sent it to all the FOX addresses, Rush, Hannity ets - but they have to get slammed with this to pay attention, so it doesn't get lost.

If they decline to hear it then GWB should roll. He can argue, I think properly, that this is a dispute between coequal branches of government. When the USSC declines the case, then they have abdicated their role. Bush needn't answer to a lower court on the balance of powers.

'dangerous' to hydrate Terri now
Oh for craps sake, what ghouls they are, I think that was the station that on of the neurologists stated that Terri was not a person. Amazing.
They wanted money to pay for their daughter's care -- and you call that "greed." Michael wouldn't allow it, and withheld any further rehabilitation from Terry -- and started using her trust fund to pay the death lawyer, Felos, to get a ruling that she should be killed.
I saw her on Scarborough and Greta (as I flip back & forth). She was vicious.
I don't know law, but I know good medical care and Terri has not been receiving that. I also know that being a pain in the ass to the nursing staff does not qualify MS as a loving spouse, in spite of what she believes. In my experience the family members who were the biggest pains in the ass were not loving family members, they were controlling family members. It is a control issue.
Crier kept invoking the names of our Founding Fathers. Funny how the Judiciary suddenly remembers "Hey, we need to use the Consitution!" What she neglected to say was that this law has been declared unconsitutional by her peers without due process. "We don't have to follow this law, it's unconstitutional!"
Scarborough is right. This is about power. This is about the courts sticking it to Congress. This is about the courts and the legislatures sticking it to the Bush brothers. Terri will die, the Judiciary has won 1 round and felos' will have his orgasmic (and I mean that literally) celebration of death at any moment.
Bork is his own worst enemy.
First, there's no evidence that Terri had bulimia.
Second, IF she had it, she would've kept it secret as most bulimics and anorexics do, certainly from her parents and probably from even her husband.
Third, IF she had it, then she and Michael should have been responsible for her treatment, not her parents, although they probably would've happily done what they could, as they have all these years for her brain injury, (at least when they were allowed to).
As to calling Greer a Nazi, I dislike using words like "Hitler" and "Nazi" lightly, but I have to admit that this situation has some frightening similaraties to the German judges in the '30s and '40s.
