I would be insulted (and not a little mad) if people who didn't live in my community tried to change policy.
As would I, but some schools have such a strict Zero Thought policy on guns that even a picture is a violation. If they were to look at the policy they might change it. Some (many?) people arent even aware of their school policies or even care about them.

Yes, it just cuts against the grain to butt into the business of a local school district, particularly, in Oregon. Those folks can be a bit cranky and territorial. I remember the bumper stickers from they 80s they had that read: "Welcome To Oregon. Keep Moving Stranger"
