Yes, I, too, was using a stereotype. Only, I was joking.

Here's the flip side of the joke: the irony of the machista Latin culture is the strong and verily independent latin woman. If you've ever worked or lived in that culture you will know this immediately. Men dominate at a cost the women exact in a number of ways, and none of them weak. I have no idea if this same dynamic plays out in islamic culture.

My objection is to the idea that there is a correlation between the latin and islamic cultures that led this girl to adopt islam. I don't see it. So yes, I stick with my contention that a fiery latina probably could take down a mullah or two... :)
