CSPAN's ongoing interviews with wounded IRAQ war soldiers is outstanding. Today, a young Special Forces soldier, Michael Oreskovic, just finished a very long interview. All the while, almost his entire left arm is plastic and motorized.
This 23 year old man is absolutely nailing it on the head about why naked soldiers dragged around in Somalia, and Clinton then having us leave, made the USA look like 'wusses'. It was the turning point that made him join the military.
Folks this fellow made the US Army look so good it was unreal. Furthermore, and more to the point, he was very very proud of his service, giving the Iraqi people 'freedom to choose'. He is the essence of the future of America and its past. CSPAN is to be commended as is the US Army, and his parents.
Additional interviews are still on right now...

When he said 'Can you imagine the reaction if naked sargents were being dragged around in Baghdad and then Bush said let's leave'? I cheered. He had just finished commenting about how Clinton's behavior near his desk was directly connected to his decision to join the military .... and he was 11 years old at that time. The interviewer was surprised he'd be so involved so young.
He said the USA lost the feel of a 'superpower' b/c of what happened in Somalia, but now that has changed.
I distinctly remember my reaction that day, and I told many of my acquaintances that more Americans were going to wind up dead b/c of Bill Clinton. I was laughed at; I wish I had been wrong.
This 23 year old man was unreal. He wore a black T shirt: "Peace ... thru superior firepower". And finally, when asked about his future plans, he said this: "I want to go back to my unit."
But he has just one arm and he has to learn something else. He reported that tying is shoes w/ one hand was very, very difficult, as were zippers.
Michael, this is one Freeper who says this: thanks. Its meager, a cybespace nothing. But thanks. When you marry and raise a son, I hope I hear about him someday. Chances are he will make the Oreskovic name proud.

Awesome. That's amazing that those things made him want to join. Great story.

It's fantastic to hear it on TV but I'm not surprised. I see it every day and it gives me a great deal of hope for the future of our Republic.

Yea, I guess your right. No one is responsible for anything and the only time we should do something is if it is politically expedient. Hey, sounds like someone we used to know.

Ah, just leave him alone...he apparently lives in Austin, and that deserves a LOT of pity! Lots of confused folks there.

Welcome to FR, member from 30 Mar 2005.
Your post makes no sense.
First you defend Clinton and then you slam him--on the same issue.
Clinton is to be blamed for Somalia; for not building up when he expanded the mission and for running when we needed to show strength and resolve.
I think your stay at FR will be very short.

It may surprise you to know that I think they should do something. Are you pointing this out because you also believe it, or do you just hate George Bush and his brother like the rest of the lefties.
