The jail complex, which is located on 48 acres of land in Central Pinellas County, provides daily housing and care for over 3,000 inmates and operates on a budget of $78 million dollars (FY 2002/2003). 1,231 professional members, consisting of 812 certified detention staff and 419 medical and support staff, are currently assigned to the Bureau. In 2003, 49,891 individuals were processed by personnel with an average length of stay being 23 days. The current total capacity of the entire jail facility is 3,119 beds making our jail system one of the largest in the State of Florida
