Jesse waited to intervene till it was too late to save Terri. It's just politics as usual for him.

He's going to use this against the Republican Party. Jeb and George Bush.

Did she die, and this is your way of breaking the news to us?

That may well be his motive, but regardless of his intentions I think his involvement will bode well for the forces of life whether or not they bode well for the Republican Party.

The media in this country have tried to portray Terri's supporters as being hard-right-wing extremists. Such a portrayal is dishonest, but the media has generally gotten away with it. If Jackson takes a highly-visible role, however, the lie will be harder to maintain. Nobody is going to believe that Jackson is a hard right-wing extremist.

Historically, Republicans have been the party of 'mumble pro-life platitudes, but do no more than is necessary to placate the base'. If they get any competition from Democrats on pro-life issues, that will have to change. I see both parties as splitting into openly pro-life and pro-death camps. It will be interesting to see how things realign from there.
