The media in this country have tried to portray Terri's supporters as being hard-right-wing extremists. Such a portrayal is dishonest, but the media has generally gotten away with it. Historically, Republicans have been the party of 'mumble pro-life platitudes, but do no more than is necessary to placate the base'. If they get any competition from Democrats on pro-life issues, that will have to change. I see both parties as splitting into openly pro-life and pro-death camps. It will be interesting to see how things realign from there.
