What would stop Jeb from abusing his EXECUTIVE power for other purposes? To seize land, to incarcerate anyone he wants, to usurp the rights of ordinary citizens....

Jeb did what he could, WITHIN the law.

Good point. One governor may use his executive power for good, but others might not be restrained and use it only in a difficult and terrible situation such as this. If there is no oversight on a governor (other than the threat of losing reelection years down the road) then the door opens for the abuse of power in ways that will be harmful.

I struggle to understand the reactions of certain people to the fact that Terri lingers. Although I can understand her parents' desire to hold on, if they and everyone who supports them truly believe Terri is suffering why wouldn't they want it to end quickly? I don't know whether Terri is fully aware of what is happening or not, but either way I hope she is not suffering and do not want any suffering she is experiencing to last long. Certainly I wish the tube had not been removed, but now I pray she isn't suffering or that any suffering will end sooner rather than later.

There ya go using logic on these people.

What they want is a dictator and a bloodbath between whatever force Jeb could assemble to carry out his illegal and unconstitutional seizure of raw power and the sheriffs at the hospice.

Fortunately Jeb Bush is not insane like many of the hysterical crackpots that populate this board lately.

Not to mention the loonies at Worldnetdaily...

Of course, we are not talking about Jeb acting outside of the law in the first place. But your question is a good one. If Jeb used his executive power in an abusive manner, such as those you list, the Florida Constitution provides for his removal from office by the legislature, and certainly the voters would do the same if the legislature failed to act. I'm not certain if Florida citizens can recall Jeb, as has been done recently in California. Certainly these are sufficient safeguards to prevent such abuse. It seems to have worked for some time now.

It's like they want him to declare martial law and send in the cops and national guard. I mean, that is basically what's being called for.

Can't you see some Clinton-alike in the future using an act by W or Jeb to justify sending in the JBT's against some innocent poor sod because "it might save lives."

Please name the law Gov. Bush would be violating by taking custody of Terri through DCF. I've asked three people already who make this ridiculous law-breaking argument and have yet to get one response. Name the law and cite the text, please.
