I would have been furious if I had to go through a police checkpoint and search before I could get in to see her.

OK. Before the protestors arrived, Terri's parents and any visitors on Terri's 'side' of the family or case, had to be searched before entering Terri's room, and had to have express permission from Michael to even be allowed in.

Would you have liked that with your mother?

Was your mother allowed to have 'personal effects' around her? Terri was not.

The door to the hospice where my mother died was kept locked at all times. We had to show ID to get in. No ID, no entry. And no, no personal effects were allowed -- perhaps because there was no place to put anything. The room was so tiny that only two family members could be there at the same time. My father died of cancer in 1987, and so my mother's only family was me, my sister, and my 2 brothers. We couldn't all see her at the same time.

Please know that I am sickened and disgusted with what has happened to Terri. Her husband is cruel beyond belief. Nevertheless, I can still sympathize with others whose loved ones are dying at that awful place.
