I don't want to be a hotlinker, but no matter which side of this you're on, you'll have to admit that this is the funniest take on this case yet - and it's aimed squarely at us.
Offering a larger bounty for Michael than Greer. Can't think why. Michael's just a two-bit murdering thug. Felos and Greer are the brains behind the operation.
Do you hold with Felos that a spoon counts as artificial life support?
Taking food and water away from any living animal will result in death. Murder is murder, either a bullet or starvation, either one will give the desired result.
Okay, they are murdering Terri. Feel better? It will all be over in a couple of days, so you better figure out what your next cause is going to be. Pick a good one. It has to be one that you can get all hysterical about, so you can continue to keep your comments in the same Schiavo-like tone.
We lost this in the courts. We only had 8 days to win this. Once they had the tube out, they basically won. The Republicans that voted against the bill for Terri in the FLa legislature were also from areas around Pinellas county. I suspect the medical industrial complex of the West Coast of Central FLA scared them too.
When the person dies either way, there ain't much difference between a bullet in the head and "removing life support" AKA forced starvation.
But it makes the folks who want to say they are supporting the "rule of law" feel a whole lot better, that's why she starves.
It's as corrupt as any municipality in America I've seen in my time. And I lived in New York City under David Dinkins, so that is saying something.
Yep, it is. This was a rush to execution and Republican infighting wasn't much of a factor.
Not a single one of those courts reviewed the facts of the case. They all relied on the original trial evidence and upon the conclusions resolved during that trial.
Exactly!
Terri , God bless her soul, was just the straw that broke the camel's back. We have to, as a nation, face up to what we have chosen to allow concerning the care of our elderly and disabled.
Terri's case has brought the issue forth.
We have let it go to the point where organized crime has taken over the business of caring for the elderly because of the profit potential.
We had to nuke Japan because we knew that their faith, their strength, their courage, their determination would not wain. They were a strong and proud society.
They took care of their elderly, they revered them.
Many in this country have been lulled into accepting it, though personal circumstance, or associative means.
In Terri's case, it would appear the law was changed to specifically fit her case, by Greer and Felos, and I find that to be the starting point of the whole controversy. Judge Greer and Felos told Jeb Bush it was unconstitutional when he tried it.
How do we accept that type of hypocrisy?
Ken Mehlman
Chairman, RNC

Dear Chairman Mehlman:
If you check your records, you will see that Im a long-time faithful supporter of the Republican Party. I even ran for congress back in 2000, CA District 13 (Primary). I gave $100 to the RNC during the Bush-Kerry race. I could go on and on about my volunteerism and support for the GOP.
This is to inform you that I am leaving the Republican Party. I do not wish to belong to an organization that is allowing Terri to be dehydrated and starved to death.
Jeb Bush is sitting there impotent. He has abdicated his position as Governor over to a lowly power-hungry madman named Judge George Greer. This Judge Greer actually has grabbed more power for himself than the Governor of Florida, the Congress and the President of the United States combined! Greer is above the law, makes new laws to suit his own agenda, and enforces laws which dont even exist. Meanwhile, Jeb Bush says hes only following orders.
Terri and her family have endured these outrageous despicable barbarous acts all through the Easter season. Its an all-out assault on our collective hearts. Its as though all hell has broken loose upon a vulnerable innocent disabled woman. And Jeb Bush is letting it happen. Excuses, excuses.
I will not belong to this Party another minute. Jeb Bush is a Republican. Judge Greer is a Republican. I wont be in the same Party with those monsters.
You have severely underestimated the outrage out here over what has happened to Terri and her family. Severely underestimated. There will be hell to pay.
Sincerely,
Saundra Duffy-Hawkins
cc: Gov. Jeb Bush
Hey, thank you for your good effort, BTW. And I mean that sincerely.
I will be using this case as a litmus test for politicians for a very, very long time. Anyone who can't figure out right and wrong in this case is not to be invested with the public trust.
It was worth a shot. I figured maybe for one thread we could look at ourselves honestly. It worked for a little while, then it was back to "everyone back on the pile!" "dey took are jerbs!"
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
You had me there until you called Jeb a monster.
My line in the sand has been drawn on the filibusters. This case only serves to emphasize, at least to me, how important it is to have the right judges - people who've been given GWB's stamp of approval (I still have much faith in him) - nominated by the President and confirmed by a Republican majority in the Senate. If the Republican Senators cannot see how important that is, and win the filibuster battle, then I too will be unable to see the benefit of continuing to do anything for them.
At the core of this case lies the opinions of one judge. Serves to emphasize the point that every judicial appointment is important, every last one of them.
I said they have underestimated the outrage out here. I will never be the same.

Well said.
You can't test cognitive ability and functioning on a dead person.
Once again the misinformed will will be vindicated.
