Follow the Constitution Gov. Bush: Grant Clemency to Terri Schiavo
Empire Journal | March 28, 2005 | Anon

Since I'm only allowed to post a link, here it is.

http://www.theempirejournal.com/0328051_follow_the_constitution.htm

This is a really good article on one of Jeb's reamining options to help Terri, which he refuses to take.

The article urges him to launch an immedite criminal investigation into the whole case, then take her into custody as part of the investigation, then grant her clemency, thus putting her out of reach.

Is the argument about the right to life or proper guardianship? To me, its about proper guardianship, I feel as though Michael Shiavo, who is has been engaged to another woman and has kids w/her should have no say in what happens to Terri, and thats its the parent's choice and they should do with her whatever they feel like so long as its legal.

You're very good at parroting Rush Limbaugh. I feel the need to tell you that saving the life of an innocent citizen, upholding her state and federal Constitutional rights, is not an abuse of executive power. On the contrary, the judical order of her death by starvation/dehydration is an abuse of power so egregious it must be checked.

Bush should do the same on the grounds that Terri's right to representatrion and right to life have been violated. Which one do you think sounds Constitutional?

Neither, quite frankly. Does the federal government prosecute most murder cases? Or other crimes?

I do agree President Bush's intentions would have been better, but we also know what paves that certain highway to Hades.

This, IMO, is a state matter and needed to be resolved within the State of Florida. Just because liberals abuse the Constitution for their causes doesn't mean we should abuse the Constitution for ours.

Thus proving that Larry Klayman has become even dumber over the years.

Dumber I don't know, but he must be getting slower. I figured he would have been scamming some way to cash in on this weeks ago.

You're very good at parroting Rush Limbaugh.

I don't listen to the guy.

I feel the need to tell you that saving the life of an innocent citizen, upholding her state and federal Constitutional rights, is not an abuse of executive power.

Please show me where this is a federal matter under the Constitution, other than where we take liberal abuses of federal power and use them for our own agendas.

On the contrary, the judical order of her death by starvation/dehydration is an abuse of power so egregious it must be checked.

At the state level. However, without knowing more about the laws of the state of Florida, it seems Greer is operating within those laws - which means the entire state needs to get its act together - something federal intervention in one case isn't going to remedy.

"Look, at this point, he's just going to have to violate a court order, send in the goons, and seize the woman. Or not. We know what he chose."

I am presently reading "Men in Black" and I feel this would have been the perfect opportunity for Governor Bush to take back some of the lawmaking power that the judges are now abusing.

How can you grant her clemency when she isn't a target of the investigation of any wrongdoing?

there IS a investigation or at least QUESTIONS of wrong doing, that is the WHOLE ISSUE.

"I hope he doesn't have plans for the presidency."

I heard he doesn't, because of the fear that it would appear that there was going to be a Bush Dynasty and we would be a lot like that England place where we all fled from in 1492 on the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria.

Clinton violated a court order because of his support for Fidel Castro and communism. Bush should do the same on the grounds that Terri's right to representatrion and right to life have been violated. Which one do you think sounds Constitutional?

Neither. It's not up to the Governor to decide whether her constitutional rights have been violated. He would be equally guilty as Clinton.

"Is the argument about the right to life or proper guardianship? To me, its about proper guardianship"

Good point

It's a perspective that's been lost on many that seem bent on using sound bites and catch phrases to support the cause.

He chose to obey the law and not act like Janet Reno.

He can't even protect one innocent woman, let alone a whole country.
Talk from the peanut gallery is cheap, isn't it? What sacrifice have you made for Terri? Oh-- posting at FR from your padded computer chair-- I see.

That's really a cheap shot - why not blame Judge Greer, Michael Schiavo, and the attorneys who didn't do their jobs. Gov. Bush has done what he felt he could legally. I know everyone is angry and frustrated about this and I am too. However, blaming leaders who have tried to do something isn't helping. I think Bush did way more than a lot of governors would have. He is to be commended in my book.
