So, did the evil spirits flee the flames and possess the swat teams?

Partly propaganda, however these people actually believe that objects like firearms are evil. Animism is the most primitive and anti-rational of beliefs and the sign of low resolution minds.
Philosophers have understood that the the symbol is not the thing for a couple of thousand years, but waterheads like this and like those school administrators who suspend kids for drawings of guns or for a tiny symbolic kirpan still think this way.

"The roar of the weapons brought violence and death to city streets..."

Even in such gun destroying places like the UK and Australia the felons don't seem to have any problem getting guns. You would think that it's the perps not the guns that are the problem. This kind of reminds me of melting wheel chairs to cure polio.

substitute "books" for guns.

It's both sad and scary to think that people like this are actually policy wonks and big decision makers, isn't it?

There was video. Among the weapons were a Garand and a Springfield.
Enough to make a grown man cry.
To: kiriath_jearim
I wonder if they unloaded them first?

Dang, two valuable pieces of history down the memory hole. At the very least they could've spared and resold the antique rifles and destroyed the rest that are replaceable on the market.

What a shame! A lot of these lonely unloved guns could have been happily adopted into families like mine. Why do they destroy the guns instead of trying to place them with people who have lots of love in their hearts for more guns? Our family would have been glad to take several guns and give them the home they long for. They would have been well-cared for and would have received frequent exercise and lots of playtime at the local range.

Hunter says that now the molten lava of the melted guns What a blithering idiot.
Flunked descriptive writing, earth sciences, and beginning logic. A trifecta!

Now that that the real criminals have been incinerated it is safe to release the victimized perps who were holding the guns when the guns committed their heinous crimes.

When the Australian government banned semi-auto firearms recently, and required they be turned in to the government, this is what happened to them. There more than a few men crying while surrendering their family heirlooms.
