I'm always impressed by the depth of expertise and contacts people here have. I used to live in the Philippines, so I know some folks from southeast asia. Lots of ex-military guys who spent time in Korea or Okinawa end up in the area for the while. Really friendly locals.
But as far as this quake goes, it sounds like the Sumatra coast might get nailed, probably further south than the Dec. quake. This is a remote area, so the damage won't be apparent for a while.
It's actually fairly densely populated, but an obscure area. No foreign media there (since it wasn't really damaged in December).
