Dow Jones News Reports at 11:39 "DJ Singapore Official: 7.5 Quake Hits Sumatra - Kyodo"
No other reports yet.
I'm not clear how they even measure a 25cm wave. Isn't that just any old ocean wave? Anyway... the quake happened about seven hours ago as of this writing. I'm not versed enough to even ask these questions, but I'm impatient for information. :-)

Well, the prediction I heard was on Coast to Coast, Jim Berkland stated that because of the recent rains and added weight of the soil, and the full moon and high tides of that July period, that we was predicting a 6-7 earthquake for Southern California-Southern Nevada area. July 21st was the date...Guess my brainfault slipped a bit!
it is a rise in the buoy measured by time and distance from the epicenter.
Santa Monica had a tsunami wave too on Dec 26
Because they live for them. They want natural disasters to happen so that they can claim that it proves them right.
This earthquake occurred not because the force of techtonics, but because God is angry with Christians for not saving Terri Schiavo. Never mind that nobody in Sumatra ever heard of Terri, we're supposed to automatically see the connection.
If we don't, the fruitcakes will happily make it for the rest of us, not once, but dozens of times on the same thread.
Come to think of it....
Hmmmmm....
you mean Tsumatra
LOL, I suppose I do.
It's getting old!
It is amazing to me that this thread has so few comments while the hundreds on Terri have now many thousands of comments. This is THE big story now and it affects MANY in a tragic way. I hope we have not lost all perspective here.
It's old the first time it happens on the thread because we all know it's coming. And hurricane season isn't very far away!
Or, perhaps, people want to make some sense of the disaster. So they attribute it to a higher power. I haven't read the Good Book all the way through myself, but I understand it's filled with this sort Godly wrath-type business.
Does that mean everyone who believes in what the Bible says is a fruitcake or a cook?
You know Christians are in a bad way today. One of their own was murdered by the state for no good reason. I'm not sure what you all think you're accomplishing with this little pile-on, except for rubbing even more salt in their open wounds (a FR pasttime, of late). It certainly seems like you're enjoying the hell out of doing it.
So are the "ridicule the Christians" posts, which are seriously outnumbering the "God is Pissed" posts.
In this story we have a natural disaster, the scope of which we don't even fully know. By any measure, it should be the top story of the day. Ho hum.
ah yes -- probably several buoys at once.
What a news day.
If those that claim to know what God is thinking when God causes natural disasters that can be easily explained with our understanding of ordinary science want to opine on it, fine. Start a separate thread, preferably in the religion forum to discuss the theological aspects of the event. I'm sure it would be an interesting discussion.
The question of who gets to post on Post number 666 on these threads is more than a little wacked.
I think it's around 9 a.m. local time.
I've had enought for today!
