According to Winston Churchill's memoirs, the Australians need not have worried. It would have taken 150,000 Japanese troops at a minimum to invade Australia, even with the jumping off points in Java just to the north. There was some considerable friction between Churchill and the Australian government because in April of 1942, the Australians pulled all their troops out of Africa and refused to help the Brits hold the line in Burma because they were so afraid of the Japanese invading their homeland.

In defense of the Australians, the British were doing a pretty lousy job running the war up to that point and the Australians just got fed up with it. Of course, the British can be somewhat excused as they had their hands full with the German Blitkrieg in their own backyard.

"Tsunami would have already hit Sumatra if there was one".

There have been as many as 16 hours prior to a tsunami hitting.

They should change the name of that country to Tsumatra.

It's been MORE THAN A CENTURY since the last major earthquake ALONG THE SOUTHERN PORTION of the trench, the part GENERALLY MORE ACTIVE. Other parts within this section of this fault should be considered dangerous over the next few decades.

But, how can that be? Other people on this thread are much smarter than us and they tell us this in NO WAY has anything to do with God. Since they have a direct line to God and KNOW exactly what he is thinking, I will be waiting to hear what God thinks of the earthquake.

Waiting......

I'm unaware of any scriptures relating to those three items in the way you speak of them.

FR has been full of apocalyptikooks lying about increases in quake activity for years, though; that's who I was referring to.

All I am saying is that during Holy Week Terri was sentenced & being put to death by the state & today you as have an 8.2 earthquake in Sumatra.

Yesterday my GF didn't let me eat all my Easter chocolate and today we have an earthquake shaking the condo. Coincidence? I don't think so...

No that's not what you're saying.... If you are going to say it, admit to it... What you are saying is that God is pissed about this poor woman in Florida who is going to die because her huband, his lawyer and a judge will not allow her feeding tube to be connected. That's what you are saying, and because of their actions, God is going to CAUSE a natural disaster half way around the world that has the potential to kill many, many people.

You're sprinkling something out there that is ridiculous and at best moronic. Keep it off the boards JonDavid, it's just meant to cause trouble, and you know it...

Yes, for a tsunami hitting Japan from a quake off Chile.

If there was a tsunami from this quake, it has hit Sumatra already. Not debateable.

That seems plausible. Much smaller than the Dec. 2004 tsunami, and this was a much smaller quake.
