Dow Jones News Reports at 11:39 "DJ Singapore Official: 7.5 Quake Hits Sumatra - Kyodo"
No other reports yet.
"Thou mortal Floridian heathens! Since you didn't pay attention to any of MY four hurricanes last year, I shall now drown some Indonesians halfway around the world to demonstrate MY wrath..." ;)
ROFLMAO...sure it's not ET looking for dinner?
1) Number of large earthquakes in the world below average for 5 years running...
2) No volcanic eruptions above VEI=5 for 14 years...
2)World most peaceful (fewest wars) currently than it has been in decades.
Yep, that Rapture is imminent.
Thai news reporting evacuations along Patong Beach in Phuket is complete.
No shortage of nutcases these days.
WOW!!! YOU MAY BE RIGHT??? I never thought about that... God may actually exterminate all of human kind because of the actions of A husband, A judge and A attorney... You may really have something, JonDavid... / Major Sarcasm
ROTFLMAO! You owe me a keyboard! [g]
I'm glad I saw your post. I was wondering how close you were to the quake.
OMIGOSH .. That really hit my funny bone.. I'm still laughing .. makes it sound extremely stupid, huh?
US State Department is wrong. ;-)
Wouldn't be the first time...
CNN is in full-court press panic mode, showing video from Thailand and their evacuations; Miles O'Brian is anchoring...
Perhaps, the murder of Terri may be the last straw with God. Something to grasp.
>>Worldwide quake activity has been below normal this year (even including this quake.)
I am referring to the scope. Also, remember Florida being hammered by 3 or 4 strait Hurricanes in the same general area last year.<<
In the middle ages, your statement would have been considered scientific.
Could I interest you in a piece of the holy cross I'm selling, by the way?
Inside full moon window, barely.
Thai News reporting cracks in buildings in Hat Yai, Thailand. My GF's friend in Hat Yai told her that everything fell off the shelves during the quake.
Evening from the Garden Of England.
I have literally just heard of this worrying news in the last few minutes, and I think the first thing that we do have to say is thank the heavens that this has occured during the night and during the day when the beaches would've been packed. Been listening to BBC Radio here in England and they've said that Banda Aceh is being evacked as we speak, which just shows the worry that there is.
Sad to say though I am not surprised that this has happened.
What is on Cocos Island?
Well, on USEnet according to a reliable poster, the USGS is now stating this quake propagated SOUTH from the epicenter; meaning it's a new ruputure of an area unbroken by the December quake.
Which means a couple of things:
1) There's no tsunami threat to Thailand at all, and a minimal one to India and Sri Lanka.
2) I really think there could have been a large Tsunami in Sumatra, even though we've heard nothing, because it would have occured SOUTH of Banda Aceh with little effect there, and NORTH of the large city of Padang. It's populated but no big centers, hence no media there. And the media seems to only be talking to Banda Aceh and focusing on Thailand.
