Former General Electric CEO Jack Welch says he has no regrets about leaving his wife for a former magazine editor, 24 years his junior........
"I don't care. I fell in love," Welch tells Dan Rather in a wide ranging interview for the CBS TV show "60 Minutes" to air Wednesday, of his affair with Suzy Wetlaufer, the former editor of the Harvard Business Review, who is now his wife.
Welch said the resulting scandal didn't bother him nearly as much as the nickname "Neutron Jack," acquired after he fired thousands of workers from GE.
As for the perks, Welch said that he was in an unwinnable situation when it became known that he had continued staying in GE apartments and flying on the corporate jet, after his retirement.
"Give the money back," he said, "and look like I did something wrong."
"Or keep the perks," he continued, "and look like a greedy pig."
In the end, Welch voted against the "greedy pig" option, and gave up the perks.
Welch and Suzy, in their first network TV interview since their marriage, said they've decided against having children, because of the huge age difference.
"We think about me being 80 and she's 55 and, you know, will I be a bumbling idiot someday?" Welch said.
Some, like ex-wife Jane Beasley, might agree.

Guess it WAS a job interview, then!
Hey at 80 he's in the twilight years. Like the Anna Nichole case he probably could care less if she gets every penny when he drops dead at 85 or 87. Someone is gonna get it, might as well be her.
I heard (I think Glenn Bleck) someone say the other day, "Any young woman walking down the street with an old husband looks supid".
PS I guess the older the man, the more fat tummy you can have in your wedding dress.
Is there a reciprocal rule for boy-toy second husbands?
(I haven't yet finished securing my first husband, so I'm not quite in the market, but one likes to be prepared.)
Who or what is "neutron" Jack?
Probably.
(You just have to be the one with the big bucks. Hence, this is not really a problem I have to worry about.)
Wonder if the DJ played "The Neutron Dance" at the reception?
Point of order: J. Howard Marshall was a sprightly 89 when he and Vickie Lynn Hogan met. He lasted a whole 14 months after the nuptials.
....and those hips....
It must look like a '65 Buick going down the road.
