The translation of FJ that I read quoted FJ as saying the one who called himself "Christ"...
Interesting. My English version reads "he was the Christ." I haven't looked at my Latin copy lately, but if memory serves, that was a pretty good literal translation.
I should clarify. From what I remember, my Latin copy translated to "he was the annointed one."
