Injury Report Prompted Schiavo Cremation Plans

Michael Schiavo decided to have his wife's body cremated after her parents' lawyers obtained medical records showing she had sustained broken bones, a nurse who cared for Terri Schiavo is now claiming.

"He wanted her cremated after the bone fractures and dislocations were found," nurse Carla Sauer Iyer, who cared for Terri in the mid-1990s while she was at the Palm Gardens Convalescent Center, told ABC Radio host Sean Hannity on Friday.

"He immediately went to court and [said he] wanted her body cremated at that time," she said, "after we got hold of the records that proved there were dislocations and fractures."

A 1991 report on a bone scan performed on Terri Schiavo states:

"There are an extensive number of focal abnormal areas ... These include: multiple bilateral ribs ... both sacroiliac joints ... both knees and both ankles."

Radiographs reveal "compression fractures" of the spine and right femur. ... "Compression fracture presumably traumatic," the report says.

Nurse Iyer said she recently contacted Palm Gardens to encourage co-workers who also cared for Terri to speak out - but said they have been muzzled.

"The administrator had gotten them together and they talked about what happened with Michael," Iyer told Hannity. "The people who have worked with Terri who are still there, they cannot talk to reporters - they would be terminated."

I wouldn't hold out any hope that Terri's body will be examined before cremation ----------

I'm not holing out hope.

But, there may be something in the after life who may just cremate Michael.

I thought he was a loving husband just carrying out her wishes???????

This whole spectacle is obscene. It is murder, they forced her death, and now the humiliation of the family in her death.

I hope those who support this share the same fate.

I don't think he would pass a cardiogram either.

However, I understand that he does take Viagra in order to increase his height.

The parents instituted an action to have Michael Schiavo removed as guardian in 1993, after he received the malpractice award - and nearly instantly stopped all rehab therapy for Terri and inserted a "DNR" in her medical records..

During that 1993 guardianship proceeding, Michael admitted under deposition to having had two affairs (one lasting 18 months).

After all was said and heard, the Court ruled against the parents, and as we have all seen, once the judge rules, IT'S ALL OVER unless there was a procedural error..

A chronology of the events-

I for one had NO idea that this is what we sometimes did to people when they're at end of life, but the person I spoke with yesterday insists that this is something they do almost daily....Maybe that's God's real purpose for Terri here. To raise visibility of something that's affecting far more people than any of us ever knew about.

It is very common, and the other night CNN interviewed some people you've never heard of who had similar battles between spouses & parents in similar situations. Biggest difference was, the battles didn't receive national publicity.

I agree that it's about time for a national discussion. Hopefully one without all the wild accusations and finger-pointing.

Terri's body is the 'smokin gun'!

Bottom line: Terri WAS NOT DYING when they took out feeding tube and denied food and water.
She is being Murdered by the law with the push of her husband.

So, in FloriDUH, we have local authorities with more power than state authorities.

I thought we conservatives were in favor of local control?

I couldn't agree with you more.

Dear Lord, please watch over Terri and her family during this trying time. Allow them to find peace and comfort from your presence.

It didn't help that Judge "I Don't Care If She's Speaking, I Don't Care If She's Smiling, She Must Die" Greer, a judge who has acted with the single-minded intent of putting Terri Schiavo, has presided over this case despite his obvious bias and conflicts of interest.

Terri Schiavo never really had a chance with George the Buthcher Greer presiding over the case, backed up the appellate courts that give him cover.

Correction to prior post: "single minded intent of putting Terri Schiavo to death".

I've done a little "Hospice research" as well. You know what they say: Follow the Money.

How do hospices generate income?

1. In general, each hospice has a fixed number of beds.
2. Medicaid and other insurance companies pay a fixed dollar amount per patient per day.
3. Income appears to be fixed.

However...

1. People come to hospice to die.
2. When they die they also donate money to hospice.

Therefore

1. Income can be increased.
2. They must increase the number of deaths per bed.

Conclusion: The only way to significantly increase hospice income, is by increasing the number of deaths per bed.

Whether they're sick or not, it was a heck of a surprise that they're apparently 'end of lifed' in this way.

BTW, I'm a huge Terri supporter and keep pointing out to people that the only reason she was on a feeding tube in the first place was that her husband got a court order that she be fed this way (presumably so that he could get her to the point she's at now), vs. the other ways (spoon fed, for example) that she COULD have been fed - at least according to some very highly credentialed physicians.

She looks sleepy to me.

That's because she is either in a PVS or minimal conscious state.

BTW, I live in the area and have followed this story for several years.

That tape of Terri most people have seen is culled from about 4 hours of tape where most of the time Terri is non responsive. About 80% of what is being reported are absolute lies or propaganda.

Doesn't it frighten you that it IS apparently common (to 'off' ill or otherwise inconvenient people this way?)

I'd say that 98% of Americans have no idea we're practicing this end of life 'treatment' in our hospices. My God, this is Euthanasia without laws allowing it. (Simply skating around the law by denying food. That way, they don't "officially" kill anyone - eg: by lethal injection, which is illegal).

This is madness.

Terri's case brings national attention to this horrific practice that few (if any) knew was so commonplace.

There is the very real possibility of congressional or criminal investigations. If the hospice would terminate them for telling the truth, then that hospice needs to be investigated.

'Twill be very interesting when Terri kicks the bucket and they are subpoenaed by Congress.

No it wont they will just ignore the subpoena and go on about thier day and the big bad law and order republicans will say gee thats not very nice of them then go on to the next issue that they can cave into and wuss out on when the democrats say boo. How effective was the subpoena they issued for terri?
