Injury Report Prompted Schiavo Cremation Plans
Newsmax ^ | 3/28/05 | unknown

Michael Schiavo decided to have his wife's body cremated after her parents' lawyers obtained medical records showing she had sustained broken bones, a nurse who cared for Terri Schiavo is now claiming.

"He wanted her cremated after the bone fractures and dislocations were found," nurse Carla Sauer Iyer, who cared for Terri in the mid-1990s while she was at the Palm Gardens Convalescent Center, told ABC Radio host Sean Hannity on Friday.

"He immediately went to court and [said he] wanted her body cremated at that time," she said, "after we got hold of the records that proved there were dislocations and fractures."

A 1991 report on a bone scan performed on Terri Schiavo states:

"There are an extensive number of focal abnormal areas ... These include: multiple bilateral ribs ... both sacroiliac joints ... both knees and both ankles."

Radiographs reveal "compression fractures" of the spine and right femur. ... "Compression fracture presumably traumatic," the report says.

Nurse Iyer said she recently contacted Palm Gardens to encourage co-workers who also cared for Terri to speak out - but said they have been muzzled.

"The administrator had gotten them together and they talked about what happened with Michael," Iyer told Hannity. "The people who have worked with Terri who are still there, they cannot talk to reporters - they would be terminated."

From the nurses affidavit I am sure he is saying far worse to her. I prayed that angels would minister to her and maybe take him while they are there (Of course not to the same place).

Have her vital organs started to fail yet?
I was going to make some calls. But if there is no chance I will make the calls later and it will not be for a plea for her life. It will to to chastise those that did not do anything.

The fact that Terri's husband wants her cremated without autopsy is disturbing. Surely he is aware of the speculation that he caused her initial collapse. If he is innocent of harming her, wouldn't an autopsy reveal that innocence and lay to rest all these charges?

Another "nurse" to smear pick over the corpse on her parent's behalf? I'm stunned!

The court records indicate the parents did not have any qualms with Michael until he refused to share 50% of the malpractice settlement. The courts *have* heard all these accusations and properly addressed them.

Why? They'll just join the bandwagon and ignore any Congressional subpoenas as well.

Congressional subpoenas are apparently not worth the paper their written on today. Just ask Judge Greer, who ignored HIS subpoena - and Congress did...NOTHING. (Gee, what a surprise THAT was!)

Our guys better grow some spines soon, or the Hildabeast is gonna win the next election when the Conservative base sits home - in DROVES. THAT is what the idiots advising Frist, Dubya and the others DO. NOT. GET.

Yes, probably. But then, the moment she is pronounced dead, he will probably remember that Terri said she would never have wanted to have an autopsy.

Prove that the parents demanded 50% of the malpractice award (for themselves, not for Terri's care).

Prove it.

Cite your source.

Please, not the "recollections" of Michael Schiavo.

That just won't happen if she's cremated.

She's fifteen years older and hasn't had any exercise in a decade. Yet her heart hasn't been stopped by the eating disorder she's currently undergoing: ten days of total starvation.

Had a conversation yesterday with a family member (who works in Hospice care as well as non-Hospice), who tells me that what's happening to Terri..

Apparently is done often.

I fear we've just never heard of this technique of offing those who society views don't have "quality of life", or who are too much bother to take care of.

Before yesterday's conversation, I had no idea that this is a fairly common procedure.

So, Terri's case has in a way blown the lid off of something that apparently happens fairly often in America.

I for one had NO idea that this is what we sometimes did to people when they're at end of life, but the person I spoke with yesterday insists that this is something they do almost daily.

God help us. The Euthanasia crowd has apparently gotten pretty entrenched without a lot of visibility.

Maybe that's God's real purpose for Terri here. To raise visibility of something that's affecting far more people than any of us ever knew about.

Ya just gotta wonder if it was all theatre, for our consumption.

I don't put it past Jeb or any other politician to have baked up a half-hearted "rescue" to get the base off his back, and to LOOK like he was trying to do something.

There really is no other reason that the State police would have backed down after being pushed by the locals. I mean, turf pride alone would have seen this carried through.

In all likelihood, there's more to the story here.

I can't imagine why the parents did not institute an action to have MS removed as guardian when he moved in with the other woman and had two kids.

Additionally, this cremation thing is just unbelievable. Those who have felt bad for MS in this deserve nothing but the same fate.

The humiliation of this poor family is just heart breaking.

I wouldn't hold out any hope that Terri's body will be examined before cremation. Or that cremation will be prevented, since Jeb Bush told reporters yesterday that he has no power against a judicial order, and the court has decreed that Terri's body will be cremated.

Ask your friend how many young patients are admitted to hospice care who are mentally disabled but NOT terminally ill. I would be very interested in the answer.

Michael seems to have proved himself a lowlife when he melted down Terri's wedding and engagement rings so he could use it to make jewelry for himself.

Classy guy!

Remember, the people your family member was talking about are ill. Terri was not sick! She was just brain damaged.
