Eisenhower was backed up by a federal court order. If GWB goes into Florida, it will be in defiance of a court ruling. I'm sure that one of the purposes of the Congressiional bill was to get a federal court order that would allow POTUS to intervene if necessary. But without that court order, he would be establishing a very dangerous precedent.
Yesterday on Sean Hannity, David Boies and Jay Sekulow agreed that Jeb has done as much as the law will allow him to do. Jeb is acting as if the ground has been cut out from under him, which is in fact the case. (rebellious police, defiant Republican senators, news that his own head of DCF suppressed reports on Terri). I agree that he's not handling it well, but its unfair to assume that he was insincere from the start-- or that he doesn't care now.
If that is, indeed, the case, I'd love to hear the Governor express real outrage. So far what we've heard is that he's worried about the Schindlers...and he's concerned about Michael Schiavo. Sorry...the Governor isn't convincing me.
