DUBAI: The Al Jazeera satellite channel said Sunday that its crew in Beirut had received a threat from an unknown caller who vowed to blow up its offices in the Lebanese capital for its coverage of an overnight explosion.
The Al-Jazeera office located in front of the seat of the government in downtown Beirut has received threats ... in a telephone call, said Ghassan bin Jeddo, the Doha-based channels Lebanon bureau chief. He threatened us and threatened the office where we are located that if you do not shut up and if you continue to cover (events) in such a way, we will blow you up.
Bin Jeddo said security forces had immediately cordoned off the area around Al-Jazeeras bureau, which is in the same building as many other foreign news organizations. Security has also been reinforced around the United Nations regional headquarters, adjacent to Al-Jazeeras office.
Late Saturday, an explosion rocked an industrial area of east Beirut, killing two people in the third blast in a Christian district in a week. The explosion heightened tensions amid a political crisis sparked by the assassination last month of five-time prime minister Rafiq Hariri. afp
Obviously the threatening person/party doesn't wish to let Al Jazeera stoke the fires of terrorist lust for blood, among the Lebanese, as they did with the foreign terrorist and jihadist element in Iraq.
Security has also been reinforced around the United Nations regional headquarters, adjacent to Al-Jazeeras office.
Oh, and we wouldn't want any UN "personnel, peacekeepers or peace envoys" to get hurt, maimed, or killed by a huge bomb blast meant (only (?) for the news channel. (sarcasm)
Al-Jazeera often passes along messages for the terrorists and puts other people's lives at risk.
It's a bit of karma coming back to bite them where they live.
Yeah. Think of Spain and the rest of the crapweasels...
