Interview After Words with Jim Wallis C-SPAN

Wallis, Jim, Editor in Chief, [Sojourners] Magazine Tate, Randy, Executive Director (1997-1999), Christian Coalition

Jim Wallis discusses his book "God's Politics: Why the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It," published by HarperSanFrancisco. Jim Wallis is a public theologian, preacher, faith-based activist and author of seven books. He is the founder of Sojourners, a nationwide network of progressive Christians and is the editor of "Sojourners" magazine, covering faith, politics, and culture. He is also the Convener of Call to Renewal, a national federation of churches and faith-based organizations. Mr. Wallis has been an Institute of Politics Fellow at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, and has taught at the Harvard Divinity School.

Randy Tate represented Washington's 9th Congressional District from 1995-1997 during which time he was a member of the House Transition Team and served as Republican Deputy Whip. He had previously served as a member of the Washington State House of Representatives between 1988-1994. After leaving office, Mr. Tate led the Christian Coalition from 1997-1999. This guy is dead-wrong. Jesus said to turn away from the material world as vain and illusory because "man lives on more than bread alone." In contrast, this guy says to demand more money and programs from "the government" first and worry about your spiritual well-being later. Had this guy been Jesus, he would have gladly succumbed to the Devil's temptations and turned stones into bread, thereby surrendering man's freedom to the Devil in exchange for the empty promise of material comfort.
