Now the whitehouse is saying Bush didn't want to come back and sign the bill. I am really too shocked for words.

Are you really surprised after all the insane calls by the right-to-life movement for unconstitutional violent action by Jeb and the President?

And then the scurrilous, lowdown, slander directed against Jeb when he didn't take up the gun and act like a third world dictator?

I'm thinking the president and his boys are in major panic mode seeing his poll numbers fall lower than a snakes belly because the American public is sick and tired of the ghoulish circus going on in Florida!

We want the Federal government OUT of the dying business!

That is between a family, their doctor, and God, not some demagogue in Congress, the POTUS or the Governor of any state!

Neither is the judicial branch, although by their actions you'd think the judges held that opinion of themselves. The exectutive branch has equal standing and a mandated constitution authority to carry out its duties, judges or no judges. Who is watching the watchers?

I see that woman care not a whit for the other dying patients in that Hospice who cannot sit outside in the gardens and must listen to bullhorns all night long. Lovely values system.

Matthew 6

5.And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6.But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

If that's true, then there's going to be plenty of hellfire directed at folks on both sides of this argument/tragedy.

Does coming from Jesus' mouth make something true? (Matt.5:22)

I heard on the Dennis Prager show thurs. The caller(?) said (I paraphrase) We can no longer condemn human rights abuses in other countries because George or Jeb Bush won't save Terri.

the nutcases are coming out in droves.

This is where our philosophies part company. One of the 'Bush brothers', our President, is called the most powerful man on earth, while his brother Jeb is the highest elected official in Florida.

They CAN make a difference by intervening, while you and I cannot.

Wishing to avoid a potential governmental conflict they chose not to use their full powers to stop Terri Schiavo from being starved to death. I call it political cowardice...

See also, from Ann Coulter:
Democrats have called out armed federal agents in order to:
1) prevent black children from attending a public school in Little Rock, Ark. (National Guard),
2) investigate an alleged violation of federal gun laws in Waco, Texas (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms), and
3) deport a small boy to Cuba (Immigration and Naturalization Service).
So how about a Republican governor sending in the National Guard to stop an innocent American woman from being starved to death in Florida?

-- snip --

In two of the three cases mentioned above, the Democrats' use of force was in direct contravention of court rulings.

-- snip --

As a practical matter, courts will generally have the last word in interpreting the law because courts decide cases. But that's a pragmatic point. There is nothing in the law, the Constitution or the concept of "federalism" that mandates giving courts the last word. Other public officials, including governors and presidents, are sworn to uphold the law, too.

It would be chaotic if public officials made a habit of disregarding court rulings simply because they disagreed with them. But a practice borne of practicality has led the courts to greater and greater flights of arrogance. Sublimely confident that no one will ever call their bluff, courts are now regularly discovering secret legal provisions requiring abortion and gay marriage and prohibiting public prayer and Ten Commandments displays.

Just once, we need an elected official to stand up to a clearly incorrect ruling by a court. Any incorrect ruling will do, but my vote is for a state court that has ordered a disabled woman to be starved to death at the request of her adulterous husband.

-- snip --

President Andrew Jackson is supposed to have said of a Supreme Court ruling he opposed: "Well, John Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it." The court's ruling was ignored. And yet, somehow, the republic survived.

If Gov. Jeb Bush doesn't say something similar to the Florida courts that have ordered Terri Schiavo to die, he'll be the second Republican governor disgraced by the illiterate ramblings of a state judiciary. Gov. Mitt Romney will never recover from his acquiescence to the Massachusetts Supreme Court's miraculous discovery of a right to gay marriage. Neither will Gov. Bush if he doesn't stop the torture and murder of Terri Schiavo.

You got it. I would be proud of them too. THEY DID NOT put Terri Shciavo where she is now. No one knows how she got this way but the Bush Brothers are NOT responsible for her condition.

The Judges are the guilty parties here. They took HEARSAY as gospel and shot down every single appeal the Schindlers could muster. No, the Bush family has NOTHING to do with this. But...you know how people will try to blame everything on them. It's standard fare.

Yes, Barbara Bush certainly IS proud of her sons and so am I. Whomever wrote tht sign should grow up and wake up and try to focus on the REAL PERPS instead of blaming the Bush family and...to Bring Barbara Bush into this is beyond the pale. She did a good job with her family and she SHOULD be proud, IS proud and RIGHTLY SO. They are good, honorable men with character. That's more than I can say for some people who know nothing.

They might go free on this earth but...they will stand before their maker one day just like the rest of us and ya know what? I'd rather be in MY OWN shoes than theirs. They'll find out when Judgement day comes...then THEY will be Judged and I don't think it will be pretty.

Or just people wanting to blame them anyway no matter what. That's all they do is blame the President or his brother. Too bad they can't think beyond their noses, they might learn something from George and Jeb.

I am, of course, glad that Bush 43 won, but he would have won anyway if the decision went to the House for a full vote as I believe that it rightly should have. Above all, I want the Constitution followed, even if it means that my personal preferences aren't realized.

I am rather disgusted at the actions and comments of some of our fellow freepers. Advocating violence, placing BLAME on the Bush family and other comments do not serve OUR cause well at all. If you want to castigate me for these comments, well so be it. I am sad for Terri. I just pity you!
