Demonstrators Mary Porta, kneeling, and others pray for Terri Schiavo, Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005, outside the hospice, where Terri resides, in Pinellas Park, Fla. Under increased security and with fading hopes, Terri Schiavo's parents asked supporters to return home to spend Easter Sunday with their families as the couple's severely brain-damaged daughter went a ninth day without food or water. Lame.

Last time I'm commenting on this tonight, or I'll get kooky broken record syndrome.

Both Bushes have done all they can. They have proven their dedication to the cause of life through laws banning cloning and partial birth abortion, and by publically denouncing the practice of euthanisia. They have done all that they legally can to save this woman.

They can do no more.

What do these people want, a declaration of martial law? O_o

I do not see any inaction. Terri Sciavo was previously saved because the republican legislature of FL pass a law which gave the governor the power to sign an executive order which caused the second trial. Jeb Bush pushed for that law.

President Bush did sign the Palm Sunday compromise.

I do not concieve how people can blindly say inaction when this has been moving for years. Even the MSM is creating push polls which are beyond credibility. (time is the last one to put forth an obvious push poll)

The senate voted unanimously, the house only had divided democrats and only a pathetic 3-5 rinos vote against it. Even then we had the opportuntiy to see the black caucus try and introduce racism into the mix.

Republicans may have lost to the judges but they did win the ultimate war of public opinion. Contrary to the Mediots, the public DOES understand this. The public knows there is no life support only food. There is no plug.

I would venture that no sane person gives felo's "she looks beautiful" press conference any gravitas.

No republicans may have lost but they did win. This is why the clintons wheeled out lani davis only AFTER the court options were all exhausted.

Actually, I believe the facts of the case supported the Supreme Court's decision. Furthermore, morality was on the side of Chief Justice Marshall and the Court. However, President Jackson had the responsibility to enforce the laws of the land. He was responsible to adhere to his interpretation of the Constitution, which he believed justified the removal of the Cherokees from their ancestral lands. The only court that could have tried Jackson was the United States Congress. Congress did not pursue impeachment.

Presidents and governors should realize that they are not bound to enforce judicial decrees. It is still a matter of being bound to their conscience. They are legitimately subject to Congressional review and impeachment, if appropriate.

Sometimes judge have the last word. That's how it is. The executive branch is not God.

WELL NEITHER IS THE JUDICIAL BRANCH! They sure act like they are though, hence the problem.

On Easter Sunday. I am not mad at Pres Bush because I really believe he did all he could do.

But as for Jeb Bush, if he ever comes around here, I'll picket.

Never forget. Jeb Bush had the power to save our little sister but chose not to. He is a coward.

The polls are skewed because people do not understand the situation. Today at Church, a lady told me she thought it was wrong to try to save Terri because "she's been in a coma for 15 years". When I explained the TRUTH to her, she changed her mind. That's why the polls are skewed, because people don't understand.

And apparently that's what Jeb Bush thought. That since the majority of people wanted Terri dead, he could go along with it without paying a heavy price. WRONG!!! WRONG!!! The ugly truth will be made known and all will look to him with horror and disgust on their faces. He could have saved Terri, had the power, but because of cowardice and lack of conviction, he turned away.

We must never forget!!!!!!!!!!! Jeb Bush is the last one to turn his back on our little Sister.

The poster to whom you responded seems not aware that even today's New York Times article mentions the police snipers. And of course there will be a SWAT team, that
would be expected.

We did not win by any stretch of the imagination. Rather, the GOP, as well as conservative talk radio and Internet sites and the pro-life movement, has been shown as impotent. Both the executive and legislative branches of government blinked rather than deal with the overreach of the judiciary. Despite the concerted efforts of Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Hewitt, and many others and despite the opposition of the Catholic Church and Christian Right leaders like Robertson and Kennedy, the liberals won.

Like it or not, people don't side with losers. Harold Stassen, though a bright and once youthful politician, became a stale joke after losing several primaries. Many pro-lifers and conservatives will drop out of the process. OTOH, the liberals and their political and cultural networks will be energized. Prepare for the Presidency and the Congress to revert to the Democrats. I wish I could be more optimistic.

Regardless of how much we love Terri and recognize the way she is being shafted-she is still just one person. She is the tip of the iceberg of Judicial atrosities that has been crammed down our throats. Atrocities that will continue as long as such liberal, spitting upon the Constitution Judges are sitting upon what appears to be an extremely large majority of the Courts-especially Federal Courts.

The only way to strip the courts of liberal activist judges, is a few at the time, just like the liberals put them there. We only get to appoint judges if our people are President, and Governors, and the only way to get them confirmed is to have our people representing the majority in both the US Congress and the states congresses.

It is important that the Republicans continue to behave like the adults that they are and increase our numbers in Government over that of the development arrested demochildren. The President would have held the party up to ridicule, had he decided to forget the 45 million aborted and the 45 million abortions that would follow, if we don't appoint the judges for a long time to come, and possibly sacraficed everything for the sake of one person.

That my friend, is just the cold hard facts of life.

Here's a "rational argument" for you:

The president of the United States should have sent a large contingent of U.S. Marshals to take custody of Terri the MINUTE the congress supoenaed her to appear before them.

It is a felony to interfere with a supoenaed witness in a federal case. Killing one is presumably not acceptable.I have seen the law, and apologize for not remembering its numbers. It has been posted previously.

Attempting to kill a woman congress demanded to see before them is a federal crime, King Greer, the SCOF, and needless appeals aside.

The TRUTH could have been presented to the American people on T.V. in living color, and our sides' prerogatives would be very different. And I am not a Christian zealot, or even a believer in God. But the "nutcases" in the religious right have an absolute ally in me. This is the most horrible story since Beslan.

I'd like to see a link or a source on that. But in any case he DID sign it. The problem is, everyone has been a day late and a dollar short in their attempts to do what is right here.

you don't light a candle and then hide it.

Sorry I ran out on you. Had to go back to church (third service today). Yes, we do tend to pick and choose the Scripture that we want to believe. "Proof texting" makes us all feel "right". I think God put the Bible together that way on purpose. The debate has kept us interested all these millenia. Cool huh?

"Rather, the GOP, as well as conservative talk radio and Internet sites and the pro-life movement, has been shown as impotent."

I think the blinking applies to the politicians of the Repub Party, who have a track record of blinking, not to the bloggers and talk folks. But as Eisenhower said to JFK, if you're going to war, go to win. Otherwise, don't go.

However, I think there will be some negative resonance for the Dems on this, too. At what level of brain damage are you allowed to kill your spouse? If her mental level is that of a 3 year old? Maybe 2 or 1?
