According to the Associated Press, Michael Schiavo sued medical professionals who he said failed to recognize symptoms that caused his wife's heart to stop beating, causing her brain damage. As a result, he won a $1.2 million settlement. At the time, Michael sought the funds with the promise to use the money for Terri Schiavo's care and rehabilitation. As part of the settlement, Michael Schiavo received $300,000, the rest being earmarked for Terri's care and rehabilitation. His attorneys say today most of the money designated for Terri is gone, spent on her care and legal bills. One of his lawyers, Deborah Bushnell, told the AP that more than half of the $700,000 designated from the malpractice award for Terri's care has been spent for that purpose, with the rest going toward litigation. But that statement is at odds with records that show that lawyers - not medical care - ate up most of the expenditures and have been paid directly from Terri's Medical Trust fund, with the approval of Judge George Greer: Heres where most of the money went:
Atty. Gwyneth Stanley - $10,668.05 Atty. Deborah Bushnell - $65,607.00 Atty. Steve Nilson - $7,404.95 Atty. Pacarek - $1,500.00 Atty. Richard Pearse (GAL) - $4,511.95 Atty. George Felos - $397,249.99 Other - 1st Union/South Trust Bank $55,459.85 Michael Schiavo - $10,929.95 Total: $545,852.34
These funds, the result of a malpractice suit, were meant solely to provide for Terri Schiavos care and rehabilitation, not to pay lawyers to help Michael Schiavo kill his wife. Schiavos primary attorney, George Felos, a professional advocate of mercy killing, has received upwards of $400,000 dollars since Schiavo hired him. This same attorney, at the expense of Terris medical fund, publicly likened Terri to a "houseplant" and has used Terris case on national television to promote his newly published book.
Check the post I replied to. You said judges were elected. You may not have been writing of Greer, but you didn't make the delineation.
I wasn't criticizing. I was just correcting.
Take a red.
Sorry, sonny, you need to pay more attention in school, actually.
As a matter of fact, it only takes basic googling to figure out what brain death is:
"A brain dead individual has no electrical activity and no clinical evidence of brain function on neurologic examination (no response to pain, no cranial nerve reflexes (pupillary response (fixed pupils), oculocephalic reflex, corneal reflexes), **and no spontaneous respirations)**."
http://encyclopedia.laborlawtalk.com/brain_death
"The current definition is that of a 1981 U.S. presidential commission, which recommended that death be defined as irreversible cessation of all functions of the entire brain, including the brain stem, the brain stem being that part of the brain that controls breathing and other basic body functions."
http://www.answers.com/topic/death
In case you didn't notice, Terri Schindler has been breathing on her own for the entire time since her "collapse".
Oh, one other thing. I realize you probably do know more than the Mayo clinic neurologist Dr. William Cheshire who examined Terri 3 weeks ago, but on the off chance that you hadn't caught up yet, take a gander:
http://www.bpnews.net/bpnews.asp?ID=20441
Cheshire writes, To enter the room of Terri Schiavo is nothing like entering the room of a patient who is comatose or brain-dead or in some neurological sense no longer there.
As I looked at Terri, and she gazed directly back at me, I asked myself whether, if I were her attending physician, I could in good conscience withdraw her feeding and hydration. No, I could not. I could not withdraw life support if I were asked. I could not withhold life-sustaining nutrition and hydration from this beautiful lady whose face brightens in the presence of others.

#55 - I made this statement:
"ELECTING CIRCUIT COURT JUDGES like Greer"
There is no other judge mentioned in that post - which is the one you replied to. Before you start accusing me by saying, "you didn't make the delineation" - please re-read the post - because the delineation was very clear.
Thank you for suggesting that I take drugs - how typical.
Right. And Judge Greer was APPOINTED, not ELECTED.
Drugs might be a good idea.
But they aren't in the phone book. Who starts an insurance agency but tries to keep their existance secret?
Excuse me .. a person who lives in his county in FLORIDA said he just got re-elected - are you totally without brains that you cannot understand that .. ROTFLOL!!
Since you don't live in Florida - I will take my chances with the person who lives in the judge's county - that the judge was RE-ELECTED - NOT APPOINTED.
Apparently you've been into the drugs already.
.........Unless it's a scam. Schiavo the bigamist and his common-law wife (Jodi) apparently set up the stealth insurance company 10 years after the accident. Or was it an "accident"?
Hopefully the Florida State Troopers will be at their door tomorrow to arrest them for insurance fraud. I'll bet Felos (who collected 57% of the money earmarked for Terri's care and therapy) was in on it too. And reviewing Greer's history we already know that he's a bad judge.
Pinellas County: America's Fraud Capital.
Any names? Or ideas how to dig this out?
The judge says, not enough. Your obviously dead.
Philadelphia Insurance does not do retail insurance. They are in the Commericial Insurance business. Some of the things Philadelphia Insurance does is provide liability insurance to to Lawyers, Day Care Centers, Mental Health providers and to Boards of Directors (as in, say, hospices). What was Michael Schiavo's expertise that led him into this business? Who bankrolled him? Why did Philadelphia buy his company? What did they think they were getting? Did they get a good deal? Did they get scammed?
And I suppose you think the proper guardian of Mrs. Schiavo is the common-law husband of JODI CONSTANZE?
There are laws against bigamy, even in Florida. Does "alienation of affection" ring any bells?
you will know a brain dead person when you see one, and that is not Terri Schiavo....
her brain is not working properly, true...
but it is well enough up to now at least to tell her body to do all the bodily functions like breathing and metabolizing nutrients.......
a stroke is a type of brain damage....yet, with physical and occupational and speech therapy, these people can live good lives, maybe even normal lives.....
did you forget that Terri has not had any therapy for over 10 yrs...forbidden by her loving, cheating husband....
If and when you sense the widely felt moral outrage, let me know. Meanwhile...
The plot thickens (as the old saying goes):

EXCLUSIVE
Charges of Unethical DCA Activity Surface in Schiavo Case
http://www.theempirejournal.com/34209_charges_of_unethical_dca.htm
That's the thing - GREER is changing the law by ordering no one to feed her orally. And the executive sections of the FL constitution give the governor the power to intervene if any public officer is acting in violation of the law.
Separate, sure, but EQUAL.
The elderly, the disabled, and others who are just unaware, are being fleeced there.
I wonder how often this goes on around the country.
This is shameful.
I understand that. I have no issue with that.
What I don't agree with is the conflict of interest of Michael as her "legal guardian". He was biased.
