Minutemen to cover larger area of border than originally planned
"One of the organizers of the Minuteman Project has reported that, due to the unexpected number of volunteers that have committed themselves to the mission, even more of the border will be guarded than was originally planned.
In addition to the strip of border between the Huachuca Mtns. and Douglas, AZ, additional volunteers will be deployed in the Columbus, NM area and both east and west of Nogales, AZ."

This is like a busy intersection in a city. The cops are too busy to direct traffic so the citizens get out put on fluorescent armbands and get the job done. I love it. With enough volunteers we could once again secure the border.
But wait. Someone politically won't look good. so expect some Washintonian to put a stop to what desperately needs doing. When that happens the proverbial shi... will hit the fan.

Evidently there is a good percentage of current and retired police officers amongst the volunteers. Hopefully they will stay alert to that possibility.

I'm sure that the common vehicles pursuits which result in injuries to the illegals and the coyotes will now be blamed on the MMP.
The fact that these people were being pursued by Border Patrol agents will be minimized.

I dont know...if the people that are doing it are actually commmitted and this isnt some stupid protest organization, it may last a long time. I think it will last a long time as I dont generally question the preserverance and stubborness (its a good thing in this case) of Conservatives over this issue...
like I said though, I Just hope that the MM aren't going to do anything stupid. They may get blamed, but if their leaders have their crap together and if they are well organized, allegations won't stick if they aren't true....
I could really only tell you the standings in one sports league by the way and that is the NHL :-)

How do you propose that they be stopped? They are within their legal rights to drive or fly their planes anywhere they want in this country. This is true whether they are monitoring for illegal aliens or migrating ducks. God bless them.

How long do you think it would last? I think the MM Project is only scheduled to last the 30 days of April.
It is basically a publicity stunt/protest designed to bring attention to President Bush's miserable failure to protect our borders.

They will have to ignore the Constitution to stop it.

I'm hoping that this brings the politicians to fund the Border Patrol sufficently allowing them to make the required changes, cameras, personnel, detention centers, etc. to handle the job without this unrequested civilian assistance.

Success could bring about a timeline extension, I suppose and it could bring even more volunteers so this could spread across Texas also.
Right now, nobody knows just what the results will be. I think the organizers are a pretty level headed group that will do their best to keep bad news to a bare minimum.

Well, if they're tresspassing, they should be arrested. Someone owns the land they'll be trampling on.

Well, I do know that if work allowed me to take the time, I would find it gratifying to volunteer for a week or two. This must really irritate the no-borders crowd. An added bonus.
