malpractice awards do not have to have any merit. The jury is not 12 medical experts, but 12 civilians not smart enough to get off the jury of educated enough to be thrown off. Often juries give hefty awards because of slick-meister lawyers and sad cases that may or may not have anything to do with real malpractice. Unfortunately too often juries are incapable of understanding the medical science to make intelligent verdicts-think OJ

You are certain there was a jury? I don't remember reading about a jury. But that's a moot point.
The point is that the Schindlers were complicit with Michael Schindler in the case which was filed as a malpractice hinging on doctors' inadequate care and diagnosis of bulimia.
