Schiavo's Parents to Appeal to Fla. Supreme Court

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — As Terri Schiavo (search) drew closer to death Saturday, a state judge rejected another attempt by the brain-damaged woman's parents to reconnect her feeding tube, leaving the couple with little hope they could keep her alive.

Her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler (search), planned to appeal the ruling to the state Supreme Court later Saturday, family spokesman Gary McCollough said. The high court last week refused to intervene for the Schindlers.

"as an orthodox jewish physician, I can tell youthat healing is and always was ok on the sabbath."

"Now he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And there was a woman who had had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years; she was bent over and could not fully straighten herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her and said to her, "Woman, you are freed from your infirmity." And he laid his hands upon her, and immediately she was made straight, and she praised God. But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the sabbath, said to the people, "There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be healed, and not on the sabbath day." Then the Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Does not each of you on the sabbath untie his ox or his ass from the manger, and lead it away to water it? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham whom Satan bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?"

LOL, and I guess you're down to playing God by deciding who is and who is not a believer.

You're right, let's say no more. You go off and worship Paul, I'll continue to follow Christ.

We just don't have anything in common if you don't accept God's word. You probably don't accept God if you don't accept His word.

Some of your postings are now considerably more clear.

I do choose life. I believe in the sanctity of life and I believe that Terri's life should be spared. But those who are pinning EVERYTHING on this life could well be missing the big picture.

As I have said before, everyone is ignoring the fact that this law has been on the books for YEARS! Think about what that means. This law, which allows the removal of a feeding tube, has been used for years. I'm sure when the law was passed, people thought it was like removing the plug from the venilator, but it's not the same thing at all unless you are in the very final stages of life.

This law has allowed others to lie in a bed without food and water for days. How many others have been allowed to die like this? Can't you look beyond one person to see the thousands who are begging for you to stop this!

Yes, save Terri if we can, but if we can not, don't go slinking off with your tail between your legs and beat the life out of Jeb. CHANGE THAT EVIL LAW!

"Don't you realize that there are BIGGER issues here? Terri is one person, how many other thousands of people have died under the same law?"

I'm not sure that many other people have had their feeding tubes removed after several physicians, (one of them a neurosurgion), have declared them to NOT be in a vegetative state, and after their blood family has told the Courts that they want to take their daughter home and personally care for her. I'm not sure it's ever happened that a husband has been so adamant, so dogged, so utterly determined to pull wife's plug.

But I will say that even if a million other people like Terri Schiavo have had their feeding tubes removed that does not make it right. It's like saying that because forty five million babies have been killed in the womb in America then that proves it's alright. Your reasoning is perverted.

As for the 'BIGGER issues' you speak of, yes there are bigger issues here. The most important one being that the Judiciary have usurped their Constitutional power and authority, and now thumb their noses at Governors, Senators and Presidents. This issue is HUGE, and needs to be addressed immediately by men of courage and conviction. The power of government is supposed to belong to 'we the people', as expressed through our elected leaders.

Listen, it's always been that one particular case brings to light an evil that has to be changed, that is why Terri Schiavo's case is so very important. We MUST set a new precedent here, starting with Terri Schiavo, that when doctors disagree on a person being in a vegetative state then we err on the side of LIFE.

But in any case Terri's situation is extraordinarily unique, because you not only have physicians declaring Terri is not in PVS, but you have flesh and blood family, her parents and siblings, who say Terri is responsive and that they want to take her home and care for her. And you have tens of thousands of people donating lots of money to help them do this. In this case, what you have is legalized MURDER.

You are quoting scripture there, written by, Matthew I believe. Isn't that against your rules?

I'm saddened to report that, like MikewasinIraq, I misinterpreted the amount of depth that you--well, keep at at it, study hard, come back in a few years.

Pinellas Circuit Judge George Greer rejected the parents' argument that Schiavo tried to say "I want to live" before her tube was removed March 18. They argued that she said "AHHHHH" and "WAAAAAAA" when asked to repeat the phrase.

Meaningless. She could have been saying "I want to die".

"I am firmly convinced that even if someone came up with a fully legal notarized living will, signed by Terri, stating she wanted to be kept alive in this exact situation- the rulings would still be the same."

You are exactly right..They smell her blood now..It is running from her eyes and her mouth..I could not bear to watch MS lawyer's so-called interview a little while ago(Did anyone else notice that we were not allowed to see who was asking him questions..Was this thing staged with only his admirers?) However, I watched enough to sense that he was absolutely giddy. It was written all over his body language and facial expression. They are very proud that they have gotten away with murder..That is heady stuff and now that they see their victory, they would not allow anything to stand in the way of her death. They and their supporters could very well live to grieve over what they have done..One would hope so, anyway.

Typically, feeding tubes are removed when people have written living wills or they are definitely terminal, suffering in pain and close to death. Terri's case is not any of those. I have heard a number of legal scholars say that she did not receive due process. Her death will bring judgment on America from all the rest of the world..Just watch..Everyone all over the world knows her name and also, the names of her oppressors.
