Well put. That is exactly what has been going on . . .
You guys are expecting too much from politicians. They have only the power that has been allotted to them by the people through the ballot box.
In most cases we are quite happy about that, but sometimes you have to pay a heavy price for it. This is one of those time.
If you have faith, you will understand that if God intends them to find that loophole in time, they will find it, and if He does not, it's because God intends for us to find something else. We can not get so wrapped up in the emotional aspect of this case that we fail God by not seeing what He is pointing to.
Why isn't this in the Breaking News section?
Amen. I am so moved by these parents' determination to keep fighting, irrespective of the odds.
This is BREAKING news. Who is in charge here at Free Republic to put this in the Breaking News section?
Deserves repeating!
this is NOT breaking news
That thought has been in my mind all week. And Greer nailed them on it today, when he asked why they had not brought the alleged fact that Terri responded when asked if she wanted to live, as they were beginning the starvation process
The response I heard was, "We were busy."
Just incredible.
That in no way excuses Greer - tardiness in presenting evidence is bad - but new evidence needs to be examined.
They must ignore the pro-death crowd who are acting like the Schindlers' fight for Terri's life is "disturbing" Terri's "peaceful death."
How ironic that the pro-death people won't give Terri the right to live, but they'll defend her right to "privacy."
Shallow folks, like Geraldine Ferraro
and you are the political equivalent of a DUmmy. Mis informed political name calling at the expense of everyone else.
trot out the line "at the expense of the Constitution". You were the same nutzos that were screaming about Elian Gonzales with Reno did the EXACT same thing that you want Bush to do. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, you can't handle it. Not surprised one bit over here.
Go back to attempting to find the black helicopters that are coming to get you or something and quit stirring shit up with people's emotions. your petty ranting has really gotten annoying.
I'm fairly new here at Free Republic. How do I do it?
I notice that you are here on this website throwing invectives at Jeb but I don't see you actually accomplishing much other than throwing a temper tantrum.
It's much akin to closing the barn door after the horses are out. This didn't happen overnight. Our court system didn't get into this mess yesterday, or two years ago, or ten years or twenty. This has been building for a long time. It's as much your fault as it is mine.
Moderator, can this be put into BREAKING NEWS??
You will never know until you reach that bridge which I fervently hope you never have to reach.

U.S. National - AP By MIKE SCHNEIDER, Associated Press Writer
PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - As Terri Schiavo drew closer to death Saturday, a state judge rejected another attempt by the brain-damaged woman's parents to reconnect her feeding tube, leaving the couple with little hope they could keep her alive.
Her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, planned to appeal the ruling to the state Supreme Court later Saturday, family spokesman Gary McCollough said. The high court last week refused to intervene for the Schindlers.
Pinellas Circuit Judge George Greer rejected the parents' argument that Schiavo tried to say "I want to live" before her tube was removed March 18. They argued that she said "AHHHHH" and "WAAAAAAA" when asked to repeat the phrase.
Greer said Saturday that "all of the credible medical evidence this court has received over the last five years" suggests Schiavo's behavior is not a product of cognitive awareness. Doctors have said Schiavo's past utterances were involuntary moans consistent with someone in a vegetative state.
When informed of Greer's rejection, Bob Schindler reacted with somber sarcasm: "He did? Great surprise."
David Gibbs III, the Schindlers' lead attorney, said the Schindlers had ended their federal appeals less than a week after Congress passed an extraordinary law to let them take the case to federal court.
"There is nothing that can be brought back to the court federally that will in any way help Terri," Gibbs said.
The Schindlers are still holding out hope for an unlikely intervention by Gov. Jeb Bush, who has said he has done everything in his power to take custody of Schiavo.
end snip.....
If someone did, the obvious question would be: "Why now and not sooner."
Mike, I overestimated you. Something in one of your earlier posts hinted at a bit more depth than--well, listen, carry on, lad. Keep reading. Keep up your studies.
