Sounds like ancient Roman law. Find some "witnesses", admit hearsay as evidence, speedy trial and then execution. But the Romans were nice enough to moisten Christ's tongue at least. King George forbids even that.

I wasn't trying to bring religion into it - just pointing out that the operation of law in this case is substantially similar to that in the Roman Empire. And we all know where that got the Romans.
