Testimony of Michael Schiavo November 5, 1992 Medical Malpractice Trial

November 19, 1993 Deposition of Michael Schiavo

Larry King Live aired October 27, 2003

Page 26

Page 3 - 6

KING: True, you have a girlfriend?

SCHIAVO: Yes. And I am very fortunate...

KING: Does it hurt the situation, do you think, as the way the public might look at you?

SCHIAVO: From their side, I'm sure. But you know something? I'm fortunate to have two women in my life that I love very much. My girlfriend right now has done more for Terri than her own mother did. She shopped for her. She washed her clothes.

KING: How do you feel about all this? In your gut, how do you feel? You could have walked away, Michael.

SCHIAVO: I could have. But I love my wife. And I'm going to follow her wish. And nothing's going to stop me.

KING: She mentioned a child. You don't have a child do you?

SCHIAVO: Yes, I do.

KING: With your girlfriend?

SCHIAVO: Yes.

KING: I see.

Q. How do you feel about being married to Terri now?

SCHIAVO: I feel wonderful. She's my life and I wouldn't trade her for the world. I believe in my - I believe in my wedding vows.

Q. What do you mean? You want to take a minute?

SCHIAVO: Yeah.

Q. If the court would let us take a minute.

Q. You okay?

SCHIAVO: Yeah, I’m sorry.

Q. Have - you said you believe in your wedding vows. What do you mean by that?

SCHIAVO: I believe in the vows that I took with my wife. Through sickness, in health, for richer or poorer. I married my wife because I love her and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I'm going to do that.

Q. Are you presently – you’re married to Terri Schiavo, correct?

SCHIAVO: Yes I am.

Q. Are you presently involved in a romantic relationship with anyone?

SCHIAVO: Yes I am.

Q. Are you involved in an intimate relationship with this person.

SCHIAVO: Yes I am.

Q. Is this the first relationship that you’ve been involved in since your wife has been in a coma?

SCHIAVO: No.

Q. How many other relationships have you been involved in?

SCHIAVO: I was in one other relationship.

Q. Was it an intimate relationship?

SCHIAVO: Yes.

Page ???

Q. What did you do with your wife's jewelry?

SCHIAVO: My wife's jewelry?

Q.  Yeah.

SCHIAVO: Um, I think I took her engagement ring and her...what do they call it...diamond wedding band and made a ring for myself.

Memory Problems

Sept 27, 1999 Deposition

January 27, 2000 Trial Testimony

1992 Deposition

Q: Did Terri have any medical issues that she discussed with you after you were married?

SCHIAVO: As far as the missed periods – I’m trying to think here. I can’t recall anything right now. I can’t recall.

Q: Did she have any surgeries that you were aware of after you were married, prior to February 1990?

SCHIAVO: I don’t recall. I don’t think so. I’m not saying yes, I’m not saying no. I don’t recall.

Q: By the way, Mr. Schiavo, all the times that Terri has been hospitalized, how many times would you say Terri has been hospitalized?

SCHIAVO: Hospitalized?

Q: For the various medical problems you testified to before.

SCHIAVO: Twenty times.

Q: Has she ever been in the hospital one day when you were not there?

SCHIAVO: No. She has not.

Q: How many times has Terri gone to the doctor?

SCHIAVO: Over a hundred, 130.

Q: What are your parents’ names?

SCHIAVO: Claire and Bill.

Q: Is Claire with an “e” at the end?

SCHIAVO: Actually, it’s CLARA.

Q: “R-A”?

SCHIAVO: Or something like that.

Weight and memory problems

1992 Deposition

November 1992 Trial Testimony

Q: How did you feel about her weight? By this, I mean, you know, you dated her and you married her when she weighted something around 145 pounds, and then she was now, at this period of time, weighing in the area of 120. What was your feeling with regard to her weight – one way or another?

SCHIAVO: I – I never really thought about it that much. You know, I – you know, Terri was my wife, I didn’t marry her because of her weight, you know, I – I never really noticed – I mean, a real decline in her weight. I mean, she would lose weight and then she would gain it and she would – you know, and I never paid attention to it. I didn’t think I had to.

Q: Did there come a time when you got concerned about the fact that Terri was getting skinnier than you wanted her to and did you talk to her about it:

SCHIAVO: I mentioned it a couple times to her and got to the point where a couple times when she took off her blouse or something at night, I could see her bones, collarbones and shoulder bones would stick out, and I’d mention, Terri – enough is enough. Let’s gain a little weight now and that was that.

Relationship with Terri’s Family

Dateline 2001

Statement of Michael Schiavo October 20, 2003

Larry King Live aired October 27, 2003

Dateline: Can you understand how two people see their child in the condition and Terri is now and want nothing less than a miracle.

SCHIAVO:  I certainly can.  I am not a parent.  And I’m sure it’s horrible for a parent to lose a child.  But they’ve had ten years of also hearing doctors telling them, there’s nothing we can do for Terri, there’s nothing we can do for Terri.

“For over 6 years, I have struggled with the Schindlers in court. On Wednesday, I joined them in grief. I understand what the Schindlers are going through at this time. I feel the same loss.”

KING: And what, Michael, is their motive?

SCHIAVO: What their motive is?

KING: In order to keep their daughter alive. They don't have a motive, do they?

SCHIAVO: Probably just to make my life hell, I guess.

Terri’s Collapse

Feb 25, 1990 Police Report
St Petersburg Police Department

July 27, 1992 Deposition of Michael Schiavo for
Medical Malpractice Trial

January 27, 2000 Trial Testimony

WRITER RESPONDED TO THE ABOVE ADDRESS IN REFERENCE TO PARAMEDICS NEEDING ASSISTANCE ON A MEDICAL EMERGENCY.

UPON ARRIVAL, WRITER SPOKE WITH FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC J. RADJESKI. HE STATED HE RESPONDED TO THE ADDRESS FOR A MEDICAL EMERGENCY. THEY FOUND A SUBJECT IN QUESTION (THERESA) LYING FACE DOWN AND UNCONSCIOUS HALFWAY IN AND HALFWAY OUT OF A BATHROOM.

Arrived: 06:33      Completed: 08:55

Q. Now, what - when you saw her, do you know what time it was?

SCHIAVO:  I believe it was almost five a.m..

Q. When you saw her, how was she lying; in other words, on her back or –

SCHIAVO:  On her back.

Q. What did you do, then, after you –

SCHIAVO:  After she fell?

Q. After you found her in the hallway.

SCHIAVO:  I was – I was to her within two seconds. I seen she stopped breathing. I ran to the phone, called 911 within five seconds and panicked.

Q. What did you do, then – after that?

SCHIAVO: I went over to her. I – I thought maybe – I just started talking to her and hold  her. I didn’t know what to do.

Q. Did you do any CPR?

SCHIAVO: No.

Q. Okay – after 911 and after you were holding her, what was – what then happened, was the next thing that happened?

SCHIAVO: I laid Terri down, I went over and called my – I remember my brother-in-law lived in the same complex; I called him.

SCHIAVO: A few hours later, I was getting out of bed for some reason and I heard this thud. So, I ran out into the hall and I found Terri on the floor. I knelt down next to her and I turned her over because she sort of fell on her face. On her stomach and face.

I turned her over going, “Terri, Terri. You okay?” She kind of had this gurgling noise. I laid her down and ran over and called 911. I called her brother who lived in the same complex as we did. I ran back to Terri. She was not moving. I held her in my arms until her brother got there.

(NOTE- Robert Schindler, Sr. has stated that Michael phoned him. He advised him to phone 911, hung up and phoned Robert Schindler, Jr.)

Would anyone want Michael Schiavo to be their nurse?

His patients are inmates. They have no choice.

"He's proven himself to be of low intellect...she, too, must be in the bottom percentile!`"

As the old lady who lived across the street from us used to say: "Love is where you find it, even if it's in a pig's ass."

Your work is really exceptional. I was wondering why does the husband get to change his feelings, testimony, etc., while Terri's thoughts remain static, like she can never change, alter, or resent, anything she said before?

How come her husband gets away with so much contradictions and Terri's alleged statement about never wanting to live this way, never can be changed?

I like how his atty had to spoon feed him the right answers. I especially like his candid remark about why he wouldn't turn her over to her parents..because they made his life hell...and He didn't want to...poor baby.

> Somewhere out in blogland or terri's sites is a note that in 1991, a handwritten by Schiavo on the rehab plan for Terri was made calling Terri PVS, prior to any medical or legal ruling of same. 1991.

If you find, PLEASE POST !! (If I'm not mistaken, by that year he may have either begun, or completed some medical training.)

Yeah, dennis, "Get over it." This is all about 'an argument.' It's not like this is serious, like somebody died, or something. </sarcasm>

Terri Schiavo's bone scan - Dr. Walker's deposition of 11/21/2003

A copy of the March 5, 1991 bone scan radiologist's report... and,

excerpts from the doctor's deposition, in which the details of the bone scan report, are explained "in plain English" for the reader.

Thank you for running a post that has produced the comparative data I've been searching for on the entire internet. This is truly a helpful thread.

Other facts about her case are also interesting:

Her height was 5'3" (Wikipedia) so her weight of 120 doesn't seem terribly out of sync with that height. Her weight dropped to 110, which is low but not in the critical range. In fact, according to the new federal guidelines, 110 at 5'3" produces a BMI of 19.5 which is considered "normal".

Her time of collapse is given as 5 AM in one source and 5:30 AM elsewhere. The ambulance is listed as having arrived at 6:33 AM--But when was the ambulance called? How long did it take to get there? If the time delay was abnormal, why wasn't the EMT service also sued?

How much life insurance was carried on her prior to her collapse?

What had she been doing the night prior to her collapse? Was she consuming alcohol? Was she with friends? Did they comment upon her general health that night? Was Michael with her? Did anyone comment on the state of their marriage at the time?

Also, Michael Schiavo was a restaurant manager. Most training classes in restaurant management include a section on choking, CPR, etc. But HE didn't try CPR on HER. This would have been something that a 911 dispatcher could have walked him through. Curious......

Hey Smithee. The Terri Schindler Schiavo case is very important and will be remembered. It will come up again when the same problems present themselves in new case. I'm not a religious nut by a long shot. What I see is case built on the lies and fraud of Michael Schiavo and George Felos. And an evil judge who happily accepted these lies because he is also pro-euthanasia for people on feeding tubes. This case is dripping with evil and scheming.

Just wait until the numbers come in for Mikey for selling book and movie rights. Death lawyer Felos might also write a book and profit fromthis case.

I agree. And I know that some TV producer out there is already writing a screenplay for a lame TV movie telling the story from Starve-ao's perspective, portraying the Schindlers as money-grubbing scumbags and pretending George Felos is Clarence Darrow.

No, I have not heard it from anyone that such a thing is in the works, but it wouldn't make sense if someone wasn't capitalizing on things that way.
