That's a pretty weak charge. Restraining orders aren't very effective at preventing a murder, and who knows what kind of evidence the wife presented to the judge. She was the one who was negligent in marrying a man with such a dark side. Similiarly, if Terri Shiavo dies against her wishes it would be the result of her gross negligence in marrying Michael Shiavo and not communicating her wishes in the event of her incapacitation to her parents or in writing to anyone. Any negligence on the part of a judge trying to sort out these kinds of domestic disputes would pale in comparison.

Why, George Felos! Fancy meeting you here on FR!!!

Don't laugh. I had a restraining order on my ex husband and quite frankly it wasn't worth the paper it was written on. Despite the order, my ex got away with following me all across town and back (about 50 miles give or take), tried to run me off the road, was allowed to move into an apartment approx 1000 yards away from the home I owned, was found within 10 feet of my residence countless times and not even arrested let alone prosecuted. On only one instance did they finally prosecute when he came after me with a pipe, but only because my attorney threatened to turn over the 911 tapes and the names of the neighbors who witnessed it to the press if they didn't prosecute. He was convicted and was sentenced to two days in jail which he was allowed to spend instead picking up roadside garbage for a few hours.

Best advice I got came from the one sympathetic cop who responded to one of my calls for help. He told me to learn how to defend myself and stay the heck away from my ex and any other abusive thugs!
