BOBBY FISCHER, INTERNATIONAL OUTLAW
Neal Nuze ^ | 4/25/05 | Neal Boortz

Posted on 03/25/2005 6:09:15 AM PST by NotchJohnson

Bobby Fischer, so-called "chess master" best known for defeating the Soviet Boris Spassky in a chess match 33 years ago in Iceland, has finally been given citizenship by that country and was flown there yesterday from Japan. Fischer is wanted by the United States government for defying a warning not to play a chess match in Yugoslavia, which at the time had sanctions placed on it. He did it anyway, and he's been on the run ever since.

For some reason, Fischer decided it would be a good idea to travel to Japan on an invalid U.S. passport. He was detained, and seemed to be facing deportation to the United States. Iceland, for some reason, decided to save the day and bring him there. But what is most interesting about this case are some of the comments Mr. Fischer has made about the United States. It turns out he is quite the character, and even and anti-Semite. Check out some of his comments:

"The United States is an illegitimate country ... just like the bandit state of Israel. The Jews have no right to be there. It belongs to the Palestinians...."

"That country, the United States, belongs to the red man, the American Indian. ... It's actually a shame to be a so-called American because everybody living there is ... an invader."

"Bush does not respect law. It's like in the comics, like Billy Batson used to say 'Shazaaam!' and he becomes Captain Marvel." Bush "just says 'Enemy Combatant! Now you have no legal rights.' It's a farce."

He has also said that the 9/11 attacks were "wonderful news" and that he wanted to see the U.S. wiped out. We have an extradition treaty with Iceland. Hopefully we can bring Mr. Fischer right back here and throw him in prison, where he can play chess with his new boyfriend for the next 10 years.

Have fun, Iceland. He's all yours.

Somebody should buy a big red clown nose for Fischer so he can complete his transformation.

Fischer might look into a tenured teaching job at CU. . .I hear they may be hiring soon.

We ought to withdraw all subsidies and trade benefits for Iceland. They can have him but they can forego warm relations with us. They can't have it both ways over there.

I believe Boortz used to claim at one time he was a libertarian. These views don't sound like that at all. Sound more like a nanny Republican. Fischer's views, which are completely out of line and beyond distasteful, did nothing originally to be charged except to play chess. I wouldn't want the guy living next to me, but the national government should have more on its plate instead of chasing around aging chessmasters on trumped up charges.

I think that the sad, pathetic person that Bobby Fisher has become is not worth the trouble.

I despise Neil Boorze -- everything about him makes my skin positively crawl with disgust.

He's a self-absorbed moron, a bully, an idiot.

Callers who bother to call him are often on a par with the idiots who call Laura Schlessinger WANTING to get humiliated by her. Why he has any listeners at all is beyond my comprehension.

Boortz has really pissed me off the last few weeks. Last week, he did his typical "I'm never going to listen to you again" speech. Then he said," You'll be back. You will always come back."

Then Belinda chimed in on how awful it was that we were going to ruin ANWR by drilling for oil.

I was not in the mood to listen to such a pompous-a$$ so I turned him off.

Glenn Beck is on at the same time and is so much more entertaining.

Bobby Fischer, so-called "chess master"

A lot of what he said is right, Fischer is a loon. But this opening salvo is pure ignorance and name-calling. Sorry Neal, but Bobby Fisher is more than just a "chess master," but one of the greatest chess players who has ever lived.

No, forget that he's the one who broke the Soviet stranglehold on world chess championships by beating Spassky in a match the Soviets tried to keep him out of (in Iceland, which is why they love him). He did more damage to the morale of the Soviet Union than any President was capable of.

No need for quotations on "Chess Master". The man may not be exactly running on full thrusters, but his accomplishments on field of Chess are undeniable.

I find Neil Boortz to be intelligent, honest and articulate. He does not have the comic element in his show that many like, but his discussions are always thoughtful

so-called "chess master"

That would be Grandmaster to you, Neal. Which is what he was at the age you were learning to hand fart.

Boortz' quotes by Fischer are not really relevent.
They are the rantings of a severely mentally ill man.

And Neal, Fischer is no 'so-called "chess master."' He is the greatest chess player of all time.

Fischer did nothing that Jack Nicholson, Steven Spielberg or Leonardo DiCaprio didn't do when they violated US law to travel to Cuba.

Well, we are definitely in agreement on Savage. Boortz has a frequent tendency to make me think....Hannity, on the other hand, just has a tendency to make me sick.
