A friend told me that she witnessed a nurse give a morphine od to a dying man while his wife was out of the room. My friend was young and inexperienced. I found that it was interesting that my husband and his brother sat for four days in thier mother's room while she was dying and that she died during the three hours while they were showering, shaving and grabbing a bite to eat.
I have other stories.
I do not agree fully with this author, I do not think anyone with a feeding tube should be in a hospice.
You don't agree with what?
Sometimes it's better that way. I missed a close personal dying moment for much the same reasons, and I never regretted it. Never even thought about much until now, it seemed like a normal circumstance to me.
this is exactly what happened to my mother, she was responding well before that. I also know of two, no three, cases of elderly people, just up and dying and they were alert beforehand. Stay with your people in the hospital
My grandfather also died when the family left his hospital room for a little while. He didn't have an IV or anything. I've always thought he was waiting for us to leave, he didn't want to die in front of us.
