If I were in Florida I would vote for Gov. Bush. He has done all he absolutely can. Why are people advocating he takes this further?

Because we want to save Terri's life.

No, I don't believe Jeb Bush has done all he can. Judge Greer has not only ordered that her feeding tube be withdrawn (the so called "artificial" support) he has also denied a request by her parents that she be given water and food by mouth. This order is clearly illegal. No judge or guardian has the power to deny a person nourishment by natural means and it does not take an attorney to figure this out. I defy anyone to find legal authorization, even in Florida law, for this order.

As is stated in another thread on an article by a doctor (William Anderson) in the Weekly Standard titled "Terri's Last Chance" there is no medical, legal or moral reason to not attempt a trial of natural drinking. He argues all the outcomes of such a trial, even if it results in a quicker death, are better than refusing to allow her to attempt to take food and water on her own. A decent and humane society, which we claim to be, owes Terri at least the opportunity to try to take a drink. Only Greer's order stops this and such an order is not within the power of a court to make or a guardian to enforce.

Jeb and George Bush should blast Judge Greer out of the water on this illegal order and immediately give her water by mouth. He is only getting away with this order by default because there has been so much focus on the feeding tube. We don't know if Terri could accept enough nutrition to stay alive but every human being has the right to try to take a drink of water! If it works, this could allow time to dismiss Greer for violating her human rights by his order and overturn the guardian decision.

So would I, if he were running again. But he's not.

This isn't about him doing what the limits of the law say, but rather, doing what is right. Sometimes the two don't meet up. Right should always trump.

Bush will not be up for re-election, he's in his second term.

1)There is a fair amount of evidence that the estranged husband abused Terri and may have, in fact, been involved in her original medical problem.

2)The husband has an enormous conflict of interest in deciding Terri's fate. Her demise not only frees him to marry the mother of his two bastard children but also it provides an inheritance to him.

3)The judge who heard this case has an enormous conflict of interest since it is reported that Greer accepted campaign contributions from lawyers who represented Schiavo.

4)A number of nurses have come forward to report that the estranged husband halted therapy for Terri and asked 'when is the bitch going to die'.

5)One of the nurses claims that the estranged husband shot Terri up with insulin behind closed doors on at least one of his visits to her.

6)The parents have hope and want her to be kept alive. Since Terri was with them for 21 years and the estranged husband for only 5 years, it seems that they would know far better as to what Terri wants.

Reinserting the feeding tube is now a matter of preserving evidence for a criminal case against the estranged husband...... And Jeb Bush should immediately act to preserve Terri as evidence so that Michael gets his 'fair' day in court.

I hope you are aware of the facts before posting. This is a rogue court that has disregarded a Congressional order - sometimes morals/values are more important than supposed laws (Greer - is overstepping his authority) and actions must be taken even if laws are broken to do whats right. We would not be a nation if we would have followed Brittish laws or we would still have slavery if we had not opposed the Supreme Courts decision of the meaning of blacks.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

He hasn't done all he can. He has within his authoirty as Gov. to take her into custody. The State courts cannot trump the state constitution as they have.

He is refusing to exercise his authority. He is aware of the calls for him to do it, but he claims he doesn't have such power. He isn't telling the truth here..

Because it's easy for them sitting in the comfort of their homes hidden behind a computer screen. It's easy to give other people marching orders for things they wouldn't risk their necks for.

No he hasn't.

he has almost overwhelming police power at his disposal.

Do it now, Jeb. And then tell this nobody judge from a puny nowhere county to "bring it on" and dare him to do anything about it.

Spomeone needs to stand up to the tyranny of the judiciary, even by extra-legal means if necessary. Life is far more important than any law.

Otherwise, you've forever lost my support and I'll never EVER vote for you should you run nationally.

Because he is not beholden to a Tyrannical Judge OR the Courts in this case.

The Judiciary, the Executive branch and the Legislature are EQUAL in the government. The GD Courts do NOT rule anyone and those ba$tards need to be made to realize that.

I think the judges in America are out of control. Bush has done everything possible under the law. If he does anything else he might be using his power to break the law, but it would be eye opening to see him stand up to these cretins.

The Bush's are not to blame if conservatives want to blame someone they should blame the death culture - death to unwanted babies, death to unwanted prisoners, death to the disabled and death to the elderly. It's a sick country. The only way to stop it is to follow the example Martin Luther King set during the civil rights movement.
