I briefly visited one of the other threads on Freepers with people slamming people like us who care about Terri. The callous disregard is mindboggling.

I think what we are witnessing is people's aversion to the severly disabled. Many people don't seem to care if she has a level of consciousness at all, they just know they "wouldn't want to live like that". I don't think the quality of a persons life should be judged by the public at large. Make sure you get your own advance-directive if you don't want to be starved to death.

I agree but think there's something even more. I think it goes along with Felos saying Terri is so beautiful in dying. Beauty is all today's society believes in. If they aren't beautiful and perfect, they run to the plastic surgeon to fix their noses, boobs, and wrinkles. One MUST be young and beautiful on the outside. The inside doesn't count in America. Terri isn't the vibrant pretty 20 year old she once was. She's over the hill, has bad hair, and lord knows she'd look like a beached whale in a bikini, so let's kill her off.
