If there is a schism, then a schism it shall be. So be it.

I think this will separate a lot of true Pro-Lifers on the one hand, from "PLINOs" (Pro-Life In Name Only- types), both Freepers and conservative public office-holders and their supporters.

Already, the Terry Schiavo story, as well as my question ("Would you risk Impeachment to do the right thing as an officeholder?") will be my own little "litmus test" I'll conduct early and often, from here on out, informally and formally, with Republicans everywhere I meet who seek office or hold office.

I am a true pro-lifer, and work very, very hard for these issues, but I would not ask all of our best and brightest politicians to break the law and be impeached and convicted because then what would we have left to fight the fight? Would this gain us anything?

If we managed to drag Terri out of her hospice room, and rehydrated her, within six weeks, she would be back being dehydrated, the state of Florida might be under martial law, there would certainly be riots all across Florida and possibly across the US. mostly against us, Jeb Bush would be impeached by the state of Florida, then probably charged in the Federal courts for kidnapping, the FBI would be involved, and many other charges, and we would lose any future chance at getting our point across.

What you want is a revolution. What we have the power to do is only an insurrection. We would be crushed and our cause would be put down by the blue states through the courts so fast that you wouldn't know what had happened.

Is this what God wants? What about all the other people who need us to stand by their side and work for their rights?

Do we break the law and totally lose, or do we let God be God and put his plan into work?

You can talk about Jeb being able to do this, if he would only want to. But all he could do would be to take Terri out. He would not be able to keep her safe. He would not be able to reverse the court rulings. He would not be able to change the fact that her guardian of record asked this. He would not be able to change the horrid reality.

The federal courts would not back him.

If George Bush tried to pardon him, he would end up impeached, and be able to do nothing else to further trying to strengthen the right to life laws or any of the other goals we are trying for. He would become political poison, and there would be nothing much passed in the way of legislation, and the judges we desperately need would not get nominated. In fact, steping out as far as he did is going to cost him some, probably.

We need those judges. We need good men and women who respect life and the constitution to be in power.

Think about it.

Crucify me as not being a "true" pro-lifer if you will, but I will say this: God knows what he's doing. His will be done. May God have mercy for us in our gried and sorrow, and be with the Schindlers and Terri. May he show us his way.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
