Former United Nations chief Boutros Boutros-Ghali is blaming the oil-for-food scandal on "right-wing politicians" in the United States, saying they are merely using it as a tool to damage the world body's reputation.
Reuters reports that Boutros-Ghali, who served as U.N. general secretary from 1991 to 1996, also has said current chief Kofi Annan should stay right where he is.

Hi, I'm Boutros Boutros-Ghali. The oil-for-food scandal is the fault of right wing Republicans and the FreeRepublic website. By the way, can you spare a piece of cheese?

"saying they are merely using it as a tool to damage the world body's reputation. "
Even if this were true, it still doesn't take away the fact that the UN willingly participated in this illegitamate program to begin with!
This sounds like Marion Berry blaming his crack addiction and arrest on 'the white man', as if whitey forced him to smoke the rock.
In short, Boutros is a jackass.

Please.
Nobody could possibly damage the UN's reputation anymore than they have themselves.
Even if they tried.

Dear Mr. Boutros-Ghali,
As a proud member I have exclusive access to the secret VRWC files. I looked thoroughly but could find no mention of oil-for-food...

The American right has seized this scandal as a weapon against the United Nations. Right, and the people of Wisconsin seized a few dead people as a weapon against Jeffry Dahmer.

And for his next trick, Boutros Boutros-Ghali will blame those hussies in Congo, East Timor, and Bosnia for dressing in a way which forced UN peacekeepers to rape them.

I look forward to the day when those responsible in the U.N. who knowingly took money out of the hands of the Iraqi people in exchange for letting Saddam Hussein and his cronies stay in power and continue to fill mass graves, are tried and convicted and punished for their evil crimes.
I'm afraid many of them will escape justice but I can hope.

Sorry, Boutros, that line of defense was already taken - and failed.

21 BILLION dollars ain't chump change, and it's a lot more than a means of smearing someone - anyway, how can you smear someone who's been wallowing in mud? No, this one was self-inflicted. Anyone who thinks anybody will do jail time for this truly epochal bribery is a lot less cynical than I.
To: Billthedrill
and it looks like a lot of those dollars went to terrorism activities.
