Actually, no. They didn't have clubs. They did it in private.

Clinton taught them it wasn't sex and that everyone does it, so they followed him. They started clubs. They see them like school dances.

Sheesh, you need to chill...thats been going on for years...Clinton (as much as he may have wished) did not "mainstream" the act of getting a BJ.

This is really starting to get nuts. Bomb threats, craized right to life activist getting on national TV holding the Bush's responsible for her life if they don't send in troops to remove Terri, Peter Jennings making it sound like the reason she is starving is because Bush and the Republicans did not do enough to stop it. This is all about bringing down Bush and his popularity, and ingnorng the good news coming out of Iraq. The media loves it.

A backpack made a bomb threat?

Hey, if SUVs and guns can kill people, why not?

I suppose I may be banned for this posting, but its been a good five years here.

I've been watching this issue trying to maintain some sanity. We have a planet with 6 billion people on it. Hundreds of thousands are dying regularly in conflicts and genocidal events. Political prisoners are tortured in many parts of the world. Our brave soldiers are hunting down bad guys all over the world. They die regularly in Iraq in a great effort to inject liberty into a region that has precious little of it.

Day in, day out the world is happening to us.

Day in, day out 90% of the postings on FR are about Terri Schiavo. This is most definitely a very sad situation for all parties. No one wants this to happen.

Who is paying for all of this?

I don't like criminals testing the legal system to the tune of hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars. Of course, they are convicted criminals.

Terri has done nothing wrong. But this situation is costing taxpayers what I suspect is millions of dollars. I don't know the answer to this question, but I suspect some of you diehards do - who is paying for her medical expenses and care? (I believe there was a medical settlement - is that covering all of this? Are donations? Are these families wealthy?)

The world is about difficult choices. Efficiency (that little engine that has driven capitalism, development, and general progress) dictates that at times uncomfortable decisions must be made. We assign value to lives in law suits. We don't intervene in every country that needs intervention. We eat our vegetables. We even put down animals. Choices. If our new paradigm is "life at all costs," then all of you should pick up those peace protestor placards and head to the next antiwar protest.

This holier than thou thing with this case is unsavory. For awhile I thought holy cow this guy has another family and is ignoring her parents. That's all Freepers talk about. I had no idea her family encouraged him to get out and on with his life. Whatever the truth is, its not the mantra so many folks on FR are proposing it is.

People should write down what they want done in this situation. When that's not done, someone else will necessarily decide. Those others may disagree.

We can't stop the world when there is a disagreement. I've read many of the rantings and ravings of people here who are disgusted about what is happening. Well, I for one am disgusted that most of those I thought to be my ideological compatriots are so whacked out that they are willing to toss logic out the window over a case in which the facts are very heavily in dispute. I thought the right to lifers who bombed clinics were the fringe lunatics.

If FR, talk radio, and conservative columnists are any indication, I may have been wrong. What in the world convinced so many of you to toss out thinking of the world, Iraq, the issues of the day and in lieu focus all on what amounts to a political ploy which is taking advantage of a terrible situation?

Terri may or may not have wanted to have lived in her condition. I find it hard to believe she would want her legacy to this world to have been the image of a helpless woman in her current state who people used for a political agenda. It's gross. And a terrible and dishonorable way to have spent the last of her days here.

I don't know what the Schindlers are doing today but I certainly hope they're sitting at her side loving her. I fear they are taking copious notes for their movie deal.

I have read your post, and I agree with you. However, this issue is NOT about Terri Schiavo. Many of us might not be very articulate, but the bottom line here and I have stated this over and over again. It is the future our country, and the "culture" of LIFE and DEATH.

IMHO, our STATE LEGISLATURE is to blame here, they could have passed a law that THE STATE OF FLORIDA wants to err on the side of life. In cases where (a LIVING WILL IS NOT PESENT) and a spouse has abandoned their role as spouse, another family member (who is willing to err on the side of life) will be granted custody their child. This would cover the SCHIAVO case, and any future cases like it. UNFORTUNATELY the Florida Senate (9 RINOS)

Florida State Senate - 9 Rino's to REMEMBER

failed to act, and that is the issue. I believe the courts are correct in the LEGAL sense, and the FLORIDA LEGISLATURE is to blame for FAILING to give the courts a leg to stand on.

Thank you for responding kindly. I guess the more irate folks have either stayed off this thread or are now plotting the fire bombing of my house quietly.

I've heard this "culture of death" thing. Maybe I'm just not getting it.

If I were to be hit by a car tomorrow and left in Terri's condition . . . virtually no one other than my family would pay much attention. If they disagreed about what to do - well, they could choose to work it out or fight in court. For a bunch of people who theoretically believe in (a) limited government and (b) the rule of law, freepers sure are acting oddly in this case.

A political agenda has been driving this circus. I'll continue to support President Bush regardless of what he does here -- but I've read hundreds of posts on FR accusing Gov. Bush, Pres. Bush, and everyone who has sided with EVERY single judge who's reviewed this -- and these folks are willing to divide what was a unified party over one woman. Who very possibly wanted to die under these circumstances.

Great. Political domination and a burgeoning consensus thrown out because the pro-lifers "smelled blood."

To me, this "culture of death" moniker is the same thing as Democrats saying of SS "fix it, don't nix it." As I said, if we are going to save life at every opportunity . . . get ready for 80% tax brackets and say goodbye to national defense.

The BEST thing that could happen in this case is for Michael Schiavo to wash his hands of the situation and give custody of Terri to her mother. But since he insisted on pushing this to the courts, and our STATE legislature (9 RINO SENATORS) does not want pass meaningful legislation to give the court grounds to revoke his right to be Guardian, here we are... That is the bottom line..

Turns out the only threat was the threat their rulings pose to the Constitution. But that isn't really a surprise, is it?

"The Extreme element of the pro-life movement will begin killing again to make it's point..."

Not necessarily the pro-life people. There may be foreign influence on the lambs also.

"My point is that we shouldn't be so quick to judge what God is doing in this situation. Regardless of the outcome."

He's forcing Americans to look in the mirror. He's forcing the world to look in the mirror. Do we like the culture of death we've created? "Take a good look, and see what America does to it's own people".

On the other hand sometimes God spares people a life of lingering on in this awful state, out of mercy.
