Really. Do you actually think the Florida legislature would do that? Or, in the case of the president, the House of Representatives? Especially after they created the law to try to save her?
What happened to Clinton after the Gonzales issue? Nothing but a bunch of harrumphing. The same thing would happen here.
If only the Bush's had some reeal guts.
Those who goose step are those who follow blindly!!
Quote from the film Narc:
"It's about a little girl being abused"....
"It's got nothing to do with rules and regulations...It's about right and wrong".
Has anyone ever figured out whether Michael Shiavo has life insurance on Terry? If he does, can't it be argued that he has an extreme conflict of interest when determining whether she should live or die?
Welcome to FR
Yup yup, Justice is going to nail Michael just after Sandy Berger gets his trial???? Don't count on it!
I never thought that I would see the day that the legal system in this country would say, "we're going to starve you to death to protect your Constitutional rights, even though we had no real clue as to what your wishes were!"
A "true leader" doesn't break the law to suit your whims.
Jeb would face a mountain of legal problems in addition to being cited for contempt of court and possibly impeached. Who physically goes in to re-attach the tubes? Federal marshalls are not equipped to do that. Do they order people at the hospice to do it? What if they refuse? Suppose Terri dies while this is going on -- yes, I know she will die anyway without sustenance -- but if she dies while marshalls are hauling her out or entering her room, then there is liability. I hate Greer and Michael Schiavo and the other cold cruel legalists as much as anyone, but it is not a simple matter of just "send in the troops and rescue Terri."
I hope this place can be as it was before, but I wonder.....
The fact that people make allegations means nothing at all with regard to Mr. Schiavo - allegations are not sufficient. People have been manufacturing allegations in this matter at a rapid pace in the past weeks and they are meaningless. In the Fulton County Daily Report - the legal paper for the Atlanta Metro area - the cover photograph yesterday was of several protestors outside the11th Circuit Court of Appeals. One is holding up a sign claiming that Michael Schiavo received $1.3 million - when the truth is - he was awarded $300K in loss of consortium damages (which are a common form of damages in situations where a spouse is disabled by an auto accident, medical malpractice, etc.), and $700K was placed in a special needs trust for the care of Terri Schiavo. Together the settlement was $1.0M, not $1.3M, and Michael Schiavo wasn't awarded the full $1.0M, just 30% of it.
Now that's a relatively minor fact in this affair, but in the absence of it people who know nothing at all about this person are using arguments like "he was motivated by financial gain of $1.3M!" or "he receives a million dollars!" and they take such non-facts and run with them - and this entire debate has become a train wreck in large part because of the difficulty of the issues involved - but also because so many non-facts are cluttering the discussion.
For those who are no asserting that there was some evidence of abuse at the time of her first hospitalization - it's only fair to cast doubt on information that was kept quiet for years, supposedly by medical staff whose duty it is to report signs of abuse.
The distortions and unsupported conjecture mutate by the minute in this one. If I were Michael Schiavo I'd have VCRs or DVD recorders running 24x7 on all the channels covering this. Then I'd call Lin Wood, Richard Jewel's attorney in the libel cases against CNN and CBS and other media outlets. I think there are a lot of people who are telling malicious falsehoods about him - and since he does not qualify as a public figure - he should have an easy time recovering from a large number of defendants in this.
They have already done it once and he has the executive powere to do so.
Hall of Fame stuff.
It is too late, unfortunately.
A true leader who has sworn to uphold the law has no business breaking it. How can you even think of saying that George W Bush is not a true leader? Where would this country have been for the last four years without his strength and commitment? Jeb Bush has done umpteen different things to help the Schindlers. I really think you have to give this a little more thought.
Where do I file...Who do I call
Interesting question.
Plastic colons are a bi*ch, aren't they?
HAHAHA, Monitor, coffee,,mess..
You clean it up.
ROTFLMAO
