If you haven't read this you should. MedBlog Doc debunks and questions Terri's CT scan. Other docs comment on other problems with it. Great read! Scroll way down to "CSI MEDBLOGS: CODEBLUEBLOG ANALYZES TERRI SCHIAVO'S STARTLING BONE SCAN". There is now a brand new blog at the top stating unequivocally that Terri could not have had an anoxic infarction as has been reported all this time.

*People with untreated hydrocephalus OFTEN SHOW IMPROVED MENTATION WHEN THE OBSTRUCTION IS RELIEVED.*

So, if the other images bear out my impression from this one slice, then Terri MUST have a follow up CT or MRI or BOTH and if she is hydrocephalic she needs to be shunted, because there are possible positive therapeutic implications that no one can deny.

You aren't going to find any support in here for what is right. 67% of americans agree with you and me.

As they probably did for the Dred Scott decison, upholding slavery.

Is it "right to life by poll" now? How many Germans supported Hitler?

15 years in a vegatative state being force fed by the state would be purgatory to me.

But see... it's not about you. I feel completely different. If I were in the same state as Terri, it would really no longer be about me. I want to be there for my children and family for as long as they need me. There is so little hope left in this world. If my being alive brings them hope so be it. If holding my hand gives even one of them a moment of comfort.. I want to be there. It's not about me.

On the other hand.. if watching me live in that bed is painful for them and they are all in agreement, can't afford it, let me go. Cogent or not, dead or barely alive I want to be there for them if they need me. I will be with my Lord soon enough. Life is short. Even for a person living to the age of 100. Death is imminent and permanent.

So you and I have completely different opinions. I don't believe her husband because there is so much conflict of interest it's not even funny. She loved her parents enough to move to Florida to be with them. She may feel the way I do. Please don't vote to have me starved.

I don't care what kind of degree you have or who sold it to you you aren't a doctor. My father was a doctor you're just a technician.

I have taken you on, head on. I've argued you into the ground and all you've been doing is spewing rubbish in return, and whatever quotes you see fit.

Am I emotional about this case? Absolutely. But the anger arises from speaking to the logic of this case and yet people coming back again and again saying that murdering this woman is this painful, diabolical manner is somehow justified.

If you support the murder of this woman, I don't honestly care what you think of me. I don't want your respect, your friendship, or your regard. From my perspective, you are lower than whale excrement. Any friend of mine who supports this is no longer my friend.

But be happy, as I said, you won. You have your prize - she is going to die. However, don't expect me to respect you, regard you highly, or think you even worthy of considering a civilised human being for supporting the judicial homicide that has just occured.

Ivan

This issue is a great identifier just like Sick Willy was. If someone supported Clinton you knew all you ever needed to know. You knew exactly what they stood for. Same here. Even darker.

Don't worry I wouldn't "vote" for the state to force feed you against your wishes indefinitely either.

I'm simply astonished that there are so many people who agree with this. Whatever happened to respect for life?

Regards, Ivan

Here's a nice little accidental, random, autonomic smile for you, bunky.
May it find life in your mind.

Whatever happened to respect for life?

It has been lost in the grasping for security, comfort and entertainment. Everything is "mine and theirs" nothing is "ours." They view life as something you own not something you are blessed with.

Your irrational statements truely baffle me. If your father ever wants to debate the role of clopidogrel in the the post stent PTCA patient please let me know.

State?? You think this is about the state force feeding her? No.. her family who loves her wants to feed her. They are asking the state to help them do that.

Her wishes were proven and ruled over Michael's by her best friend who watched the Karen Quinlan movie with her. Greer ordered her feeding tube re-inserted the first time because of that evidence. Then he re-nigged because he made a mistake about the date of Karen's death and reversed that order. When corrected.. he refused to rule on it again.

We know her wishes. "Where there's life, there's hope." (Terri Schiavo)

Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contribute little to the assessment of the anoxic patient unless stroke, bleeding, or trauma is suspected.
The positron emission tomography (PET) and functional MRI may play a greater role in classifying severe neurological injury. However, the performance and interpretation of these studies is complex, and their use remains experimental and inconclusive.

She hasn't had an MRI or PET. Seems a little problematic to make any firm diagnosis. You might want to go straighten out the docs on CodeBlueBlog too.

Let me get this straight too, all those tests return a vague diagnosis in regards to the condition we're discussing, yet you are fine with things as they stand. Let her starve?! Have you looked at the CT scan of Terri?

That's the point, PETS,MRIs and CTs don't predict outcome in PVS.

In one review of 500 patients who suffered nontraumatic, anoxic brain injury (excluding drug-induced coma), 16 percent of patients had a good recovery or were left with a moderate disability, 11 percent of patients were left with severe disability, and the remaining 73 percent never improved beyond a vegetative state. Of the patients who remained in a coma at 1 week, 7 percent improved to a good recovery or moderate disability. NONE of the patients who were comatose at 2 weeks improved beyond severe disability.

How long has in been since her anoxic event?
