By yesterday evening the Schindlers were in U.S. District Court in Tampa, where Judge James Whittemore had earlier this week rejected a request to order reattachment of the surgical hose. Whittemore, after both sides argued for three hours that Terri Schiavo's constitutional rights had been severely violated, said he wouldn't leave the courthouse until he had made a decision.
``It is my intention to work until I have completed a ruling on this,'' said Whittemore as the hearing concluded at about 9:45 p.m. ``I'll be here as long as necessary.''
Lord, even at this late hour, we know You can work through this man to Your glory. May Your will be done and Your Name alone be glorified. Surround Terri with Your love tonight, and her dear parents and siblings also. In Jesus' Precious Name.
Either he's stalling or soon we may get the good news.
Why is he taking such a long time for a decision? The emergency meeting was over hours ago.
The last time he decided was quick and negative. Could tonight the night for Terri? Or, is he taking time to prepare a negative decision to acquiesce us and waste time?
Come on, judge, it's 1:50 here.
