Scans of Terri Schiavo's brain show that the great majority of her gray matter where thinking and feeling occur has died off and been replaced by watery fluid, with no chance of growing back, neurologists said.

This is a timely report! Exactly what scans did the good doctor analyze? Are they recent? Or maybe this is just a report to make us feel good that we starved to death a helpless lady who couldn't speak for herself? A lady who unfortunately married the wrong guy????

These scans were taken in 1996.

If she has 70-90% of her upper brain gone, then she has 10-30% of the upper brain that is NOT gone.

I thought she had to have ALL of her cerebral cortex (upper brain) gone to be diagnosed in a PVS.

Also, the doctors acknowledge that Terri has not had the tests that would determine the FUNCTIONING of the cerebral cortex.

So how can they say she is in a PVS if they don't know how the 10-30% of the cerebral cortex is functioning?
