I was joking around. The link I provided is a link to the Snopes site debunking the story (though both were Marines).

It's still a good story, even if somebody made it up.

Anyone who makes it through USMC boot camp is tough by anyones standards, regardless of what happens after wards. And if you think I'm just blowing smoke, ask Dan Rather :)
BTW - the guy on the left looks like the father of the kid who won a medal (Navy Cross?) and happened to be in Iraq as a civilian and was able to pin it on him. The Dad had been a Marine in Vietnam.
Reason I remember is that he appears to be my age, and before I read the article I was thinking how lucky he was to be over there. It was posted here on FR.
