But, he was talking about NEW EVIDENCE in the case. The new evidence is interpreted by DCF to possibly mean that Terri was misdiagnosed to be in PVS. A prominent specialist is apparently ready to submit an affidavit that Terri is instead is in a "minimally conscious state."
This specialist is Dr. William Cheshire of the Mayo Clinic, who apparently was allowed to observe Terri at her bedside for about an hour; and the DCF spokeswoman said he has reviewed many hours of videotape.
Diagnosis of "minimally conscious state" apparently raises a raft of questions about whether Terri can feel pain, and about the appropriateness of the treatment (or rather lack of it) she's been receiving.
Governor Bush said that when new DNA evidence comes in about a prisoner on death row, the federal courts will immediately rehear the case. He said when we have new evidence about Terri Schiavo, we should do the same for Terri.
That's the best I can summarize what I heard. Sorry I can't identify exactly who the speakers were besides Governor Bush. There were two women who I presume were lawyers or administrators of DCF.

This is precisely the kind of evidence that deserves a Federal review under the new law.

They'll crucify this doc ... link to a poem that appears to be his -it shows very strong anti-righttodie views. They'll say he's biased.

I am usually minimally concious after not eating for 5 or 6 hours.
As I understand it, it was necessary for MS and Greer to have her diagnosed as PVS because otherwise they couldn't have pulled the tube legally. (I also read on FR that MS' atty -- Feros? -- is a member of the Hemlock Society and helped push through the statute defining a feeding tube as life support, on a par with a respirator or heart pump.)
If Terri can feel pain (and I firmly believe she can) then she is, as of this moment, being abused. DCF should move immediately to take her into protective custody, and those who have ordered her so abused also be taken into custody with a view towards prosecution.
I have read that PVS is misdiagnosed as much as 43% of the time. From the videos and still I have seen, Terri isn't in a PVS. There is a spark of life there, a certain change in the eyes when she sees one of her family. If we as a nation allow that spark to be snuffed out, we don't deserve to survive.
