On Fox News Channel, Martha McCallum just announced that Florida governor Jeb Bush will make a statement on the Terri Schiavo case at 3 PM EST.
She has been declared PVS in the pleadings, I believe.
Agreeing with you in prayer.
Yeah, Jeb wasn't prepared for that question and was caught off guard. Nevertheless I believe he is doing the right thing here. Thank God!
What healthy people think about what they would want if they were sick is meaningless.
It is very rare for a sick person with previously expressed wishes for nonintervention (made while healthy) to refuse intervention when offered, IF THEY ARE CAPABLE OF CONSENT.
I have only seen it once or twice in thirty years.
Really? So you know what Terri Schiavo will feel like 15 years from now?
I can't compare you to Adolph Hitler, either, but your sensibilities bare a striking resemblance.
I agree with what you said. Yes, we know Who is really in Control of Terri's life. God is sustaining her for a reason.
Right. But if Jeb is sending in the DCF based on the Mayo doctor claiming she is not PVS, then how would the new bill apply to her. Or do you think this a two-pronged attack?
The Florida Senate is about to vote on their bill. Sen. Webster (?) is presenting it. They finally finished the debate. My impression is that is what they were waiting on.
"The polls mean NOTHING, because the public is not informed about the details of this case and recent new information that has arisen. Go to Newsmax and read all the new bombshell allegations against Michael Schiavo by nurses who treated Terri. Polls mean zero in a case like this and Jeb is not paying attention to polls."
Exactly so ... the media has drummed in 2 falsehoods as facts: 1. That Terri's wishes were definite and that she wouldnt want to live this way. This is FALSE, it is merely Shiavo's testimony that this is the case, testimony disputed by her family. There is
2. That Terri is nothing more than a brain stem... grab a clue, if terri had no brain at all she would not be able to have any motor control at all, nor any conscious response. yet plenty of evidence on that. ... PVS is a misdiagnosis of her condition.
The fact that Michael Schiavo is promoting myth #2 goas along way towards undermining his credibility wrt myth #1.
the public assume a court ruling reasonable unless they are told reasons why it is unreasonable. Explaining why Terri is merely disabled and not a 'vegetable' as some would have, would go a long way to exploding myth #2.
You should see my Mother when she puts out the flag, she almost caresses it as she calls her old glory in her broken English. It's enough to bring tears to your eyes.
15 years is enough? Who decided that? Is there an Olympic Committee that decided there's a 15-year expiration on the value of life? What - like a stock option that can expire?
Strange - very strange argument.
It's effectively saying the same thing. Do you think she has been receiving proper care for 15 years?
Look at the facts of this case. She received proper care for less than three years, and for the last 12 years her guardian has been doing everything possible to see her dead.
Apparently they tried to intervene before and Greer wouldn't let them. The item below, which I found on the Jurist website, was dated March 10; I would assume they've been trying to get their ducks in a row in a way he couldn't do anything since:
AP is reporting that a judge has rejected a bid by the Florida's Department of Children and Families to intervene in the Terri Schiavo right-to-die case. The Department had sought an additional 60-day stay [JURIST report] of the removal of Schiavo's feeding tube so it could investigate allegations of "abuse, neglect or exploitation" by her husband, Michael Schiavo.
You and me both! I just hope Terri hangs on!
>They'll say he's biased
Yes, the Hemlockers will say he's just one of those Vitalists. Horrors.
She'll be okay.
Stuffy nose, 102.7 fever and Motrin. In fact it's time for her Motrin dose again.
Cube bound - and thinking of an early dep.
I believe that she will taken into DCF Protective Custody before Thursday's day break. Have some faith that they know exactly what condition Terri is currently in. Terri has lasted close to 144 hours before without her feeding tube and she is currently at 123+ hours right now.
They will not wait long for Greer. I say they will give him until the end of the business day maybe a couple hours after that then they will move in and take her. They have to do carefully so they can stress her body out more. I would imagine that a life support helicopter will be flown in to take her to another hospital under DCF's protection. One they get the tube back in her... then DCF has to make a filing within 48 hours to the court. Once she has the tube in her... Greer or Mikey will play hell trying to get it taken out again once they get it back into her.
